Project ’62ish

This project started back in the spring of 2007. That is when my old car flipped at Greatlakes Dragaway. After the wreck I found a good rust free body in Arizona and had is shipped back here. Then it sat for a while, then I sold the whole works, and bought it back a year later. I know that is kinda hard to follow.

In December of 2008 I stripped the body of what was left and started to remove the paint. I used a small pressure pot blaster from Harbor Freight and some 50lb bags of sand from Home Depot. It came off nice and I was able to remove the paint one layer at a time by holding the blaster gun about 2′ from the car. I hit the wheel wells, underside, trunk and engine compartment a bit harder since they would not show any warping.  The car is currently in bar metal but should be primed in the week or so. I will be adding updates as this goes. I know this is a bad idea and I am probably cursing myself but……….I “plan” to have the body painted by the end of May.
