I saw that.  His ad said something about trading for a hot street strip car.

But nothing about retiring the car!  Retiring the car, sounds like moth balls and storage.

Say it ain't so!

Not positive but haven't Calabrese or Paradise exceeded 1000 horsepower with one or both of their cars?

Yes.  But snoopy was up there too!  That image was from back in 2007.  He had more power in 2009 when he won again, and backed up his title of "World's Most Powerful Volkswagen!"

On "the other site" it's said it was retired after an "incident with the car hauler coming home from Phoenix"

Only 1 has made that kind of power to the wheels. There is video floating around somewhere.

I don't think Eric's done with Snoopy, I'd bet he'll run the car locally and maybe some events that he can have fun with. I think he's just sick of the bullcrap and the expense to tow thousands of miles from home when nobody else is willing to tow in the other direction.
Hopefully when things finally do change and people have a little spending money again we might see some races where it's a little more convenient for other people not on the West Coast to run as well.

I hope you are right! Snoopy and Lawless's car are my two favorite ghias!

Plus, sometimes you just need to take a break.  Hopefully that's all Eric needs.

Thanks Scott!

I'm sure Eric just needs a time out. He could back that thing down and run it locally without using up a bunch of stuff if he wanted to.

I've even considered selling out when frustration sets in, but then someone will talk some sense into me, if you can call it sense. After all, how much sense is there in running these things?

Is the car okay?  When I read this post...

... I didn't know what to think!  Shocked

Thank God you are alright!  Was the car badly damaged?  How's the rig?

You know I love ya man!

All is well Scott. Truck and trailer is back on the road. The ghia was not in the trailer when the accident occured. I was on the way to pick the ghia up at the first PRA event in Az. when we had trouble. $100,000.00 worth of KCW cars were in the trailer...no issues. I tie stuff down well...LOL.

You have accomplished so much in VW racing and helped promote this hobby/sport to where it is today.  Thank you for all you have done.  The very best of luck to you and your family in your new adventures.
Who knows...maybe one day you will return  Smiley

Good to hear Eric! Maybe I can pull you out to defend your back-to-back titles with the Dyno Sessions when I decide to put on my next one! Wink

Don't know how much sense it makes to you drivers, but when I've had a crappy day, week, or month, knowing you can go down to the track and see a VW whoop the snot out of some V8s does your soul good.  To hear some ten year old kid sitting a few rows up in the stands say "G## D### look at that VW!!" when you launch hard makes me laugh.  The world being what it is, simple pleasures seem to be getting harder to come by, but the drag strip on a Saturday night or Sunday morning, wherever it happens to be is one place where they still can be found.

Steve, I can't speak for all racers, but I think most feel this way. We race for the love of racing. It's almost like a drug that you get hooked on and it never gets out of your system. To win money is nice, but it's not the reason we keep coming back. It's that kid in the stands. It's the people you race with, and it's the venue.

Sometimes the perfect venue is too dang far away. I've been fortunate that Famoso, arguably  the best track in California right now, and undeniably the most historic, is only two hours away. Eric is not so fortunate, that all the PRA races are VERY far away. That makes it very difficult.

Still, it makes no financial sense to continue. But when it ceases to be fun, that's when one pulls back. It happens to us all at one time or another.
Eric may be pulling back right now, but I would venture a guess that the racing fuel still runs through his veins.

After a time, he'll be back.

I can understand Eric's dilemma.  It seems like the coastal states, especially California and the southeast/mid Atlantic have a lot more tracks and events for VWs and drag racig in general.  Hope Eric can find a way to continue to have fun with VWs in one form or another in the future.  Maybe a Bonneville car!

I always enjoyed watching Snoopy and the Red Baron go at it.

Build that car and have fun. Keep it fun but most of all, drive that car on the street to the Hot Rod cruise stuff. Thats where the smart money is. If I could, I would make Snoopy street legal and add a seat....LOL.

It just makes much more sence to have a Hotrod street car when you live out of range. I don't even take my car to the track anymore. I put lots of miles on it and have a blast every minute. Its always a bummer to see another car being sold and prolly end up over seas...

Eric build you Unlimted Street car and coming racing with some of the best guys in the sport on the east coast! And we only do it two times a year so it wont hurt the pocket to much..) And take it back home and drive it to all the Hot Rod hang outs and maybe a few times to your local track. That is why the USE class fits me so well cause I can a have a street car and still drive it, And going racing when I like to. Now one draw back is I can't go 8sec yet...D But I am working on that....D Whish you luck in what ever you do. Just make it VW, there's not many of us guys around any more and we can't afford to lose anyone.
