This is for sale now? Contact info? I can only think of 4 "street" beetles that have run in the 11's in the last 10 years, or so in the Western PA/Eastern Ohio areas, so this car must be in deep hibernation. The ex-Heyman red '65 is not in western PA, it is actually east/central PA and owned by a friend. I can't speak to it being for sale or not.

I hope to have Erics car in my garage soon. That car is gauranteed to be the quickest all motor USE car once the car is put back to its original condition. If this happens Eric will be driving it again. How cool would that be? The current owner changed some things that will be changed back.

Hmmmm? Just saw it Saturday and looked comfy for the winter...At least he took the roof rack off that the guy in the Midwest put on it!.....LOL It is an awesome car, and will run this summer whether it is in Joe's and Eric's hands or ours. I hear you don't like aluminum cases or rocker assemblies Joe.

Yeah, I heard the guy in the Midwest did some weird things to it. I am not a big fan of those cases. I would just put everything back to the way it was (except the fuel system) when it ran 11.80's. Eric and I did that fuel system right before he sold the car. I would love to buy it because it belongs next to my car. LOL. If the planets align then I want to make an offer on it. Both of our cars were always at the track together. It is an awesome piece. Is that Electromotive ignition still on it? I would get rid of that also. I never liked how the car started after putting that on.

Yeah it starts a little hard with the Electromotive stuff. We put a new crank sensor on and it made a big improvement. It is a great car without a doubt. We have some fast-ish street cars just no close enough events AND I am not into trailering my cars. I just drive to the local tracks on their street drag nights embarrass some v8's and imports and head home

That sounds better. I'm not saying I know everyone that has a fast VW in Western PA, but I do associate with enough "Hot Rod" people that would have told me about an 11 second Beetle they may have seen at some of the local tracks. Bill Sewak is the only one I knew of that had a N/A Beetle that ran in the 11's with a best of 11.66. Bill still has the drivetrain, but a friend just pestered the s**t out of him wanting to buy the car. He eventually gave in, and put a 1600 in it for his friend. Yet another race car that's no longer being raced, but at least it's not in deep storage. Vernon Lofink, Tom Simpson, and recently Howard Creps, are the only ones I knew of with street cars in Western PA./Eastern Ohio that have gone 11's, or faster. As for these cars; Vernon recently had a boy with his wife Kelly, Tom has a race car that he races (the street car gets driven on the street), and Howard just got his car finished at the end of last Summer. This 65 that Eric Heyman used to own sounds like one awesome ride!

Todd Howard's old Mega Bug was bought by Larry Burnette but he sold it to a guy in eastern NC. The guy was going to get his son out of his JR dragster and start him in VW's. Before they even made it to the track he was out in the street messing around and launched it in reverse and broke the trans. I fixed the trans and the next time they went out he hit the wall with it (not bad). then they decided the rear suspension wasn't right so they cut that up and I don't think its ever been out again. I think I've got the guys phone # somewhere. Mike

that second pic of Gene Boyds car I think was sold to Joe Paparo of Millersville , Pa . he then had it painted with "Mighty Mouse " on it , unless Gene had it that way ! not sure , but I then bought the car back in 89 or 90 not sure when, and raced a season or to, then painted it , peach and white with " Strip Pest " on it Gene can correct me if I'm wrong here !

Bill, do you still have this car? I bet Geno would be real interested to talk with you if you do. He has a bunch of old home movies of when he raced the car that he's transfered on to DVD. Geno doesn't get on the forums too often, but I bet he would like to hear from you if you'd like to e-mail him at geno570d@verizon.net.

http://peekperformance.com/thegallery.php?viewmode=album&album=3The red Muscle Bug was actually HUMBUG #1. Dad sold it to Larry Westmorland in the early 80's. He ran it for a number of years and then it was sold to Michael Hall, and he ran it in primer then he sold it to a guy from up north named Spuggy. The last time I saw it was 1993 at the Bug Out. The red, black & white car that Herb Shaver owned was sold to dad as well and it was HUMBUG#3. Two cars worked out great because my uncle Jerry would take the red chop to the IHRA race and dad would take the white car to Farmington for the Beetle Fever race's . Dad sold the white car to Larry as well and it became the dark black cherry & silver flames Muscle Bug he ran before building the Chester tube chassis car. He sold the ex Herb Shaver car to a guy up north, and he cut it up for a tube chassis project.

Louis Beale had that car for a while in the mid '90s. He had it painted a coral pink (Jeep) color. IIRC,he sold that car when he bought the chassis car that was Westmorelands and later Spuggys "Lethal Weapon". I have a fuzzy pic from about '96 or so of it sitting on a trailer next to your purple car when Westmoreland owned it . I didn't know that was Humbug #1!

I wasn't sure if someone else had it before Spuggy. Ian that's the same green car on the wall at our shop where my uncle Jerry beat Gene Fulton in the finals at the IHRA race. I wonder where its at now? Krylon Monster were snowed in for the first time in many years so I will try and dig up some old pics ,and I agree this has been an awesome thread. After dad sold the red chop top to Todd Howard he bought the ex Bad Habit rail that use to belong to James Varner. The 1900 class motor out of the red chop was sold to Herb Shaver for his yellow ghia called (The Road Runner). Dad used the 1700(mouse) class motor out of the ex Herb Shaver white car for the rail. The best it ran was high 5.90's but it bounced and hopped so bad it killed the bearing in the engine. So dad was fed up and sold the rail to George Frizzy out of GA. Since then it swapped hands quite a few times but I saw it at the last SEVWA race. Herb's health was declining so dad bought the yellow ghia turn key in 1994 so I could have a good safe car to learn to race in. Its sitting right beside the chop ,and maybe if the economy turns around I may bring it out for some USE action.

Joe,I think that is the car the Ed Robertson an Tay own and were running before they got the fastback. As for the engine out of the X-terminator car,i think Nathan Lee bought it when he first got the car he owns now.I always thought it was only a 2275cc though?

I wonder where its at now? Ok,I remember that, neat! I can't remember if Louis or Spuggy had it first. I kinda remember it being green with "The Fugitive" on it when Spuggy owned it,but I'm not 100%. A guy I work with is good freinds with Louis,I'll see if I can find anything else out. I recall that being the car Big Ed has, they completely redid it. alot of good pictures. i saw both of the wrecks(time keeper & x-terminator) in person. I saw the Terminator X car crash too. Maryland International Raceway at a import race,he was running Chuckles IIRC. Me and a freind were the only people standing around the 1000ft mark,it happened right in front of us. You could see Rashad Ali hanging on inside the car up in the air when the door flew off. Scary stuff.

Gene has two cars. The car from Denver is his Pro Mod ride, the other is his old bracket racer turned Pro Stocker.I have had my hands DEEP into both of them. As for your old car,Todd does'nt own it anymore but it is near by here in Dayton Ohio.It is being updated as we speak and is on track for a spring time debut with some AWESOME Pro-stock power

No Glass Act before the current paintjob. At some point not long before this it was a street car with porsche cookie cutters. Peter Soultanis (sp?) 200 Proof Westmoreland's Muscle Bug Later,as Spuggy's Leathal Weapon. Louis Beale ran this car for a while with yet a different paintjob.
