do we have enough classes already? should we do 2 bracket and the 6.90? i like the class and enjoy the heads up style racing and would prefer to see it again.

i just got off the phone with the track. camping is allowed starting on friday. probably earlier if anyone wants! lots of food in the concession. pro stocks, pro mods, USE, and 2 or 3 brackets. should we run a sportsmans class? car show, vendors, swap meet, and whatever else you guys might want or suggest.
i am ready to get all the planning going and i am open to any and all suggestions. even from those pocaro brothers.
Well the old man Pocaro wants to know what about a 6.90 class? Which Sain answered while I was typing this.

Also ask the track what time do the gates open saturday and what time do they start racing. First time trial at 10am sounds good to me!

while running my mouth (fingers) over on john jones' site i suggested that people can come down as early as they want! last year eric madson, john, and a few other people were here and came to my thursday night band performance and had a blast. there really is a lot to do here in this town the whole week. if gayvin is still getting the house on folly beach we could even have a get together over there. folly is really a cool place. kind of a step back in time. something for all to think about.

Your such an ass Sain! We were planning on leaving the kids at your house anyway, then your more than welcome to come over with your hoodlum friends and sleep on the beach (litterally). Heck our place even has an outdoor shower you can use as long as you leave a few bucks for beer.

How about you open the gates at 3 and first pair down the track at 6.30? Gives us time to get in, get the cars ready, go through tech and have a BS session. That way you hope to be DONE by 11.30pm. We have a lot of old guys that will be napping trying to keep up

Yeah I was trying to take a snooze in the trailer at around midnite, but I kept hearing things, didn't want any critters coming in and taking a bite out of me. Something did eat the bottom of the orange cone we left around the trailer the nite before the race. And the "lot of old guys napping" will happen, someday you will be there to, punk ass kids.

Heres a breakdown of some local Orangeburg places to stay.Jameson Inn noisy road, worn beds no hot water toilets clogged. Super 8 filthy room broken tv desk clerk dancing on a lobby table.Best Western Orangeburg good place Comfort Inn to close to interstate dirty room bathroom POS Fairfield Inn OK Hampton Inn good Holiday Inn good Sleep Inn had a peep hole in the bathroom We stayed 1 hr away in Summerville when we went to Midway dragcrap place, so if the Hampton isn't a good choice-booked up- then we will stay in Summerville. Some of these places seem like the Econo Lodge in St Stephens, run down POS rat trap. Just some insite to the local places.

yea lets be realistic ,7 classes, if and i say if it only took 15 min for each class to qualify or time trial it would be an hour and 45 min per round thats 5 hrs before any racing starts ,some one will have to call the classes and if they dont show when called go to the next class and the class that dont make the call misses that round .

Even though its called Drag Night I believe that maybe a 3oclock first car down the track or even 4 will make things better for everyone. I said 6pm earlier trying to keep in that drag NIGHT theme. But Aaron has a great point about the dew. And starting a little later on in the day you will not be on such a hot greacy track if its 95 degrees

a few ideas for the hotel:
there are quite a few right around the cruise in spot. lots of restaurants, shopping, and stuff to do. there is a la quinta there that i could possibly get for a good rate for everyone. there are also some higher end hotels close if someone wanted suites or a lot nicer. just like last year, i would suggest that you can stay down here for the friday night event and then stay closer to the track on saturday night. if you don't mind driving back to north charleston after the race then you can stay at one place. it is about an hour from here to the track but it is 95% interstate this year. it looks like the la quinta is 74.00 before a discount and there are some others there that are cheaper.
as far as the track hotel i will call my contact and ask her which ones are best.
sponsorship will be the same as last year:
$100. i don't want to change what worked so well last year. if anyone wants to do more that is fine. some people chose to help out a lot last year and i can't tell you how grateful i was. i was planning on doing award plaques, dash plaques, t-shirts for the first 50 racers this year, and stickers again. the car show will still be free. parts vendors and swap meet spots will be free with paid admission.
if anyone has any other ideas, shoot them to me!

i will check but i am pretty sure there will be room for the trailer!
payouts will be similar to last year if not better:
pro stock, pro mod, and USE handle their payouts.
i hope to do the 6.90 class and we will determine that payout later.
this is what i did last year:
1000 SP 1st 500 SP 2nd 750 P 1st 250 P 2nd
$30/$20 entry fee into the 2 bracket classes, free t-shirt, dash plaque, and sticker for the first 50 registered racers and a load of fun i hope!

Ok so the track is in Orangeburg.
Where are the friday festivities taking place? How far is that and in what direction from the race track?
Trying to find a hotel that is kind of centrally located to all this. Last year we were all a little spread out and thats ok, was the first time for everything. Maybe if we get cracken on this, we can be a little more organized. I know only about 3 people knew the route from La Quinta Inn to the cruise in spot sothe caravan was kind of interesting!

friday will be at the Wild Wing Cafe in North Charleston. lots of hotels right in that area so the cruise won't be as complicated as last year! troy will put all that together for the USE class. we will have a map this year! the track is exit 154 on I-26. the Wild Wing is exit 209. they are about 60 miles apart with the track being north. there isn't too much between so i would stay one place or the other or as i said before both.
