PRA racers, fans, and sponsors, past, present, and future,

With 2012 now upon us, our staff is excited that the PRA is entering into its 25th Silver Anniversary racing season. This season brings some new and exciting challenges and changes to the Championship Series as well as some challenging hurdles to overcome; and overcome them we will.

With the recent news of Bugorama Productions having gone in a different direction with the racing portion of their events, the PRA staff has been diligently pursuing its race date schedule opportunities for the 2012 season and has secured five race dates for our 2012 schedule.

Being confronted with the task of securing all new dates for 2012, and with many tracks having already filled their schedules, we are making every effort to avoid conflict with other sanctioning bodies’ races and events, such as NHRA, PSCA, and other existing VW events. Unfortunately, our season opening race falls the day before another VW event within Arizona. This was unavoidable without reducing the number of races in the PRA Championship series for 2012. It will make for a busy weekend for those wanting to attend both events, but we feel that in the current economy, this decision will sit better with racers on a tight budget. On the other hand, this will make travel for all out-o f-state racers more economical than traveling long distance to two events within the same region in the same month.

In addition to finalizing our 2012 schedule we have also started on our 2013 schedule. We have already locked in one additional event at a venue that will be new to the PRA.

The 2011 racing season brought new opportunities to the PRA and opened doors for us to work with other sanctioning bodies, promoters and other race series; we are looking forward to working with them in the 2012 season and beyond. More information on how we will be working with these other entities will be revealed very soon.
The past season also brought out concerns on decisions made by the PRA, primarily decisions made by myself. These decisions were not made to favor or punish any one racer or race team as many may feel. Correct or not, these decisions were made solely by me and without conference nor in a timely manner, and I take all responsibility for them and the criticism that they caused.

To avoid these types of issues moving forward, the PRA will be forming an “Advisory Committee” which will include some of the leaders in the VW drag racing industry in addition to other individuals who have become highly respected over the years in VW drag racing. This committee will be a vital resource helping to elevate the PRA to the next level during this 25th Silver Anniversary racing season and propel it into the future.

We are and will continue to be dedicated and committed to providing competitive race payouts and race fees, and most importantly to provide safe and well prepared race tracks for the racers, racers that are the PRA.

We welcome all your comments, suggestions and ideas. And for those that are dedicated and as passionate about the sport of VW drag racing as we are, your help is always welcome.

Our staff; Mark Tremblay, Jason Culley, Jerry Spearn and I wish you all a fast and safe season!

The night races in July and September at Bako should be some pretty big events with nitro cars, "exhibition cars" (jet dragster, wheelstanders, etc...)...  Last year it got rained out, and there were still a lot of people hanging out to see whether the weather would let up or not.  Should draw a big crowd.

Hands down I will be at ALL your events this year with our REVMASTER Dragster.  Race#1 I/We had a blast.  We found alot of bugs in our new set-up but the trip out to AZ for the PRA event and the BRS Event was well worth it.
We made a choice this year to run the BRS Top ELiminator Series for there championship but there's been ALOT of drama (instead of NHRA's Comp Eliminator G/Dragster class).
It is what it is at this point in the game with regards to NHRA so we will test n tune at local events like PRA, PSCA, Bug-In and Barona test n tune.
We look forward to your next race in Vegas and all others that you have planned after.
I don't recall meeting you but one things forsure Jerry and crew are stand up guys!
