Hell the Top 10 are more streetable then the Top 20.
What ever happened to people talking about driving the CAL-LOOK CARS.

i noticed the big change when this new format came out. mayeb it is just me, but the old one made it seem like we were all part of a community I guess.

me too

I wish you had posted this 5 years ago so that I would have never wasted so much time here.

i did, go back and check. as soon as the format changed it sucked

Thanks Bruce, I'll keep that in mind. I'm just not sure how I'll keep the window from rotating/flopping around since it's the regulator that pretty much holds it in place now.

There are felt channels on the front and rear edge that keep things in place.

Quote from: John Palmer
...86 stroke raised roof decks...

Since I recently asked this very same question regarding the 86-stroke engine I'm building, I figured I would explain that it is going into a daily-driver. No, not a "street car;" a "daily-driven, air-cooled and air-conditioned" Beetle in Las Vegas.

While there has been a lot of CLF discussion devoted to race-VWs, we all benefit from the trickle-down of technology. Not all stuff that works on the track works on the street...but a lot of the concepts can be scaled down a bit to make for more powerful and drivable street engines. Where would N/A and turbo technology be for the street-driven VW without the guys pushing the limits on the strip?

I'd certainly have more trouble building my engine 5 years ago, let alone 10-15 years ago; not that I or others were not capable, but the information base about what works in their respective applications, facilitated by the information super highway has ultimately made it easier for any of us to build the performance engines with the characteristics we desire.

Anyway, saying nothing that hasn't been said before...just figured I'd donate my $0.02 to the cause!

I can't afford to build a 'serious' performance machine, so I live vicariously through others on the CLF and in the magazine Grin

On a Ghia??  I'll have to look again...didn't see anything like that last time I was poking around inside the door.

That was me a couple years ago, but it finally got to me and I started selling some of my "cool vintage" stuff off in order to be able to put something fast together!

i find it comical that some are using the media(this forum)to state a dislike of the media  Smiley

isn't that like running a tv add that states one dislike for tv adds?

anyways, i am glad this forum evoled, just as this hobby continues to evole.

There might be channels for the glass.

I was thinking that if there's not, maybe I could come up with a way for them to pivot down into the door by putting a fixed pinned joint in them somewhere near the front but just below the top of the door...now if that shows up on a custom ride somewhere before I can get around to doing it, it was my idea frist (as far as I know)!   Cheesy

HAHA, I was kinda thinkin the same thing.

Matt's right-- just leave it alone. I quit using Shop Talk because it got crazy with 849 different sections and just too much filler garbage. I like the simplicity of only a few sections, splitting it up will make it even more time-consuming to read. Title your post properly and those who are interested will read it--- the others can ignore. Several of you have stated you miss the old forum and its elementary format, yet at the the same time you want to make this format more difficult and time-consuming by growing it and adding more complexity? I dont understand.

I can't remember how I came across it, Mike... I think I was looking/searching for something else and happened to stumble across it in the search.

Looking over the CAL-LOOK style, What is it??  I have seen things on a so-called Cal-Look car that do not look right.  I remember that it should be Big Engine, Big Tires and striped down..  There was now where room for Leather sets, big radio, etc.  Just my two cents.

I thought that the forum was going to be the same, bare bone talk about making the cars go big....

Can you see out of Talbot mirrors? They get mounted so low. I still have a soft spot for them black plastic flag type from the 80's.

I know it's not Cal Look, but I've always ownder why some people spend so much money on paint, bodywork and chrome when it could be better spent on heads, turbos, transaxle, etc.....but I take one look at Mike L's car and the answer's staring me in the face!
