Staging Breaks.
«

I have seen these on many a race car and every now and then street cars. Im building a street/strip bug myself and wish to fit a Neal staging beak to my car. But what I want to know is how these things are plumbed in and do they operate the front breaks only, the rear breaks only or both the front and the rear? Also are they used for burn outs, and/or staging a vehicle at the lights on the strip? Thanks in advance for any help and advice. Cheers, Sam (UK).

The way mine are setup , since I have front brakes is that it works both. I use the staging brake when rolling into the water box and when rolling into the lights. I hold it and the limite (which is a switch that in mounted on the front of the handle) when staging the car to launch, that frees up your feet to preload the clutch and gas.

I have a staging brake in my 56 oval street beetle . I have it plumbed to the rear brakes only so that I can preload the clutch/tranny when drag racing . By locking the rear wheels I can get a lot more load on the clutch which in turn gets my boost up quicker . I have tried plumbing to the front wheels and when preloading the clutch , the bug just pushed forward with the wheels locked . They really work well , 10.49 & 131.5mph from a type-4 turbo injected engine (335bhp)
