Hi guys,

I have a set of phoenix slicks, Mickey Thompson tubes and a set of 6" deep fuchs. The problem is that the valve of the tube will not fit properly. What I mean is that the golden part will go through the provision in the rim, however not the rubber convered part at the bottom of the valve.

The second issue is that the valve is roughly at a 45 deg. angle to the rim, therefore it is impossible to use the nut on the valve  Huh

Now I'm considering getting new wheels. Would 6" Erco light wheels allow me to use my tubes and to seat the valve nut properly?

Any suggestion would be very much appreciated  Smiley

Run the slicks without tubes and a steel valve stem. Have been told that a little dawn dish soap wiped around on the inside of the tires will aid in holding air pressure. mine start to loose air after about 3 days.

I'd go for the light weight rims with the tubes. JMHO

I'd prefer to use tubes after all the reading I've done. Any other wheels that would work with tubes and with a Porsche bolt pattern?  Smiley

I am not a fan of tubes as i have read quite a few stories of the spinning in the wheel and tearing the valve stem off. I run no tubes and steel valve stems now.

I also run no tubes.  I see no reason for them.

I have run drag tubes in every race car I owned. I have never had tires slip on the wheels but I also have always used screws through the rim. I do not like having flat tires between races, every slick I have seen without tubes leak down as compared to mine that stay inflated. Drag tubes weigh a little more but I think they are worth it for the consistant air pressure.   JMO   ,  Mike

tubes not necessary. You check air pressure before running anyway so loosing a little air pressure not a big deal.
