Benson ,NC   Was voted IHRA track of the year, plenty of room for everything. I watched Todd Howard run a 3.92 pass there so the traction is great .  Very close to HWY I95 for acessability , near junction of  I 95 and I 40 .

Darlington Dragway, like olden times

Carolina Dragway, Jackson, SC  "house of hook", quaint shaded show car meadows
off  I 20. Spring or fall only.

Fayetteville M/S Park, 1/4 mi, show car area, very convenient to I 95, motels, etc
RENTable.

Dunn Benson, convenient to I95, roomy. new tiki bar.

Mooresville, old school personality, visit NASCARland, PEP while there.

Some of my favorites, of course opinions may vary.

I've heard GREAT things about Dunn Benson as well. A few years ago it wasn't the greatest but with MONEY... brings a lot of things.

Go Further North towards the middle of the country so you can attract some of the people who only go to the Larry's race. There are a lot of cars that only go to that event cause that's the only thing close. I think somebody should put a race on in Missouri, illinois, Tennessee, Indiana,  or Ohio. Attract the people from the North, South, and East.

You're going to get 100 different responses because we are from 100 different places. Its 6 hours to NC from my house and thats only Maryland, which, since the civil war, is still not sure if its a northern or southern state, lol. How about this Keith, go through your registrations of racers/vendors/car shows, and see where the consensus lands. My guess, right in NC.

I am hoping you keep it in North Carolina because I can't do that many trips south!  But I am being selfish.

Here is a list of IHRA tracks...

North Carolina

Coastal Plains Dragway (1/4 Mile)
Jacksonville, NC

Dunn-Benson Dragstrip (1/8 Mile)
Benson, NC

Farmington Dragway (1/8 Mile)

Mooresville Dragway (1/8 Mile)

Outer Banks Speedway (1/8 Mile)

Piedmont Dragway (1/8 Mile)

Roxboro Motorsports Dragway (1/8 Mile)

I say stay in NC because you seem to draw a good crowd of show cars, and swap meet people.  You need people through the gate to keep things going, not just racers.

Rockingham keeps trying to have a VW race but the asphalt in mid summer is killer hot. How about a night race at Rockingham?

And the bathrooms are spotlessly clean according to my wife, hahahahhaah  Benson is very well run ,  excellent traction, staging area is better than Farminton. Again was voted best track by IHRA division 9 this year . From the junction of 40 and 95 hwys  about 15 to track.

Mike did they redo the track since we were there last. Because i was NOTTTTT impressed with it back then. But people are raving about it now. So i'm assuming they put some money in the place.

Absolutely a differant place, I used to test and tune there years ago but quit going because of all the problems at the track (partiers) but it is clean, surface is great , pits are wide and clean. The owner is trying to stretch the track out to 1/4 mile, so he is investing into it. Like I said above I watched Todd howard make consistant high 3 1/8th mile passes there.

I hate to see Farmington go away, it has always been one of my favorite tracks. I'm guessing track owners would line up to get their meat-hooks on a event as established as Farmington.

The problem moving to another track is everyone waits to see how the first show was, then when there's not a lot of people there it gets labeled as a small show, then nobody goes. It's going to be hard to replace an established show like Farmington.

There is no need for that! Thanks for all the comments and suggestions. We have done the best we can and if SEVWA doesn't include Farmington, it doesn't mean it can't be the same somewhere else! We both realize the History with the Track but, maybe it is just time for a change. We shall see. We all just have to work together to make these events happen for our VW community.
Thank you guys for all your support and when things are confirmed, we will let you know.
