What is a good working height (relative to the crankshaft centerline) for a prachute anchor mount?

I believe everyone says anchored to the center line of the crank shaft is best.  Also, I believe Stroud has a parachute SPECIFICALLY for a VW sedan. I think it may have a longer line for a softer hit...Huh  Gavin Baker I believe would know more as to what they use on Eric Calabreses Red Baron 7-second pro mod vw.

By the way, I am sort of close to you but not really. New Jersey

I've never even looked at Calabrese's car in person Pocarro you crap stirrer. But Stroud was just bought out and from what I've heard they have been a royal pain in the ass to deal with now. I bought a chute and launcher from them before they were sold and they were great, the lady really knew her stuff. Very unfortunate.
DJ safety equipment sounds like they are really capitalizing on Strouds situation. You might want to check them.

Stroud is backordered 3 weeks on jackets (based on an order I cancelled yesterday Sad ), and there's plenty of folks on Yellowbullet confirming what Gavin just said...long lead times on various products, claims of material being unavailable, etc.

Thanks guys for the info.I really don't need to get the parachute right now, just trying to get the height figured out so I can finish the rear frame but thanks for the heads up on the possible long lead time.
Hey Krylon, where in New Jersey are you?

I had mine 2 inches above crank centerline. I could fell the whole car settle when the chute was pulled.

Turbo2Go-do you think that was a good height,or would you go closer to crank centerline?

FYI, Stroud is now back under the control of its founder, Bob. Long story short, the investment company that bought Stroud did nothing but tie the hands of the company as far as getting raw materials, hence the delays in getting product. Bob has bought the company back and is attempting to right the ship!

It will take some time to fill the outstanding orders, but I've been assured that they are doing their best to get things back to the way they were!
