The North Coast VW Drag Racing Association is NOT DEAD!

Quaker City has changed hands and for reasons unkown to me,
the new owner and track manager have not reponded to me as to
whether the NCVWDRA can run at Quaker City or not. After 2 months
I realize we must look to another venue for our 2011 VW drag racing
season.
I have been in contact with the owners of Dragway 42 in West Salem, Ohio
and have their approval to run our races at Dragway 42. We will run the full 1/4 mile as a seperate class just as before with 100% payout of entry fees back to the
winners. We will probably run 2 or 3 races at Dragway 42 in 2011.
I am also contacting Thompson Raceway Park in Chardon, Ohio about the
NCVWDRA racing 1 race there in late July.
I am also contacting Pittsburgh Raceway Park about the NCVWDRA running there
on September 10 as an added class with the Pittsburgh Classic at PRP the
following day Sept 11.
I will be setting up our schedule over the next few weeks.
The NCVWDRA is alive and well and expanding to new venues!

I am sure that the folks at PRP would be glad to have you guys there for Saturday the 10th. If you have trouble getting a hold of them, just let us know and we will try and get you to the right person so you can get that settled.

I'm sure Doug will be along with some more info, but so far he has;

Sunday June 26     Dragway 42
Saturday July 23   Thompson Raceway Park
Saturday August 6  Dragway 42
Saturday September 10 Pittsburgh Raceway Park (awaiting confirmation)
Saturday October 15 Thompson Raceway Park (non points)

The first 4 events will be included in a points series this year. A lot of the Aircooled guys wanted in on the fun of the Nostalgia Event with the UMTR Guys on the 10 of Sept. at PRP, so Doug asked the track if the VW class could be added. I'm sure he'll post when everything is finalized.

Looks like the Sept 10th PRP date has been confirmed! Let's see, VW racing Saturday afternoon, Pittsburgh Classic Street Car Challenge Cruze Saturday evening, bench racing Saturday night back at the track, then MORE VW Racing at PRP Sunday! It was cool to have back-to-back VW Races the past couple of years at Quaker, and PRP. Now having two races together, at the same track, could bring more racers for both events.

The MADRA looks like it will ALSO be attending Pittsburgh as a points race for us.  Atleast it is a very strong possibility.

Have the MADRA racers come on Saturday and race the VW Eliminator
with the NCVWDRA. Saturday is our final points race of 2011.

I do beileve that the MADRA racers are running 1/8mile and aren't you guys running 1/4?
Either way, it will be GREAT to have all of you at the event! The NCVWDRA can show the crowd there Saturday what VW racing is about and they can come back on Sunday. Plus you guys will not have to worry about traveling after your race on Saturday either!

The way I see it the MADRA can run 1/4 mile as non points
Saturday and be potential spoilers for the NCVWDRA points.
The NCVWDRA will do the same on Sunday on the 1/8 mile.
Saturday night is Pittsburgh Raceway Parks Nostalgia race with a
VW Eliminator added to the program. Saturday is the final points race
of 2011 for the NCVWDRA. Nothing is more nostalgic than an old drag VW!
With 2 races at PRP on consecutive days gives more bang for your
racing buck!

Now wouldn't that be something!
If we could just get some SEVWA members up for a long haul then we could have a showdown among us!  Wink

Sure to be an AWESOME weekend!

I have NO problem running fourth gear out the back door on saturday night!  MADRA. SEVEA and NCVWDRA supporting the event could make this into a really good show

I am working it so that I will be bringing a "spare" motor.

If someone blow's up on Saturday, I will loan them a Simpson Racing Engine for a day so that they may run on Sunday too.
(heck of a sales tool).

No excuses for not running on Saturday...  I don't want to hear anyone say," I'm saving my junk for Sunday's race...".

I'm in with my new enclosed trailer.
Dragway 42 is a very old track, but also a fast one.
I always run fast there and they don't waste time between rounds. We'll get home at a resonable hour.
