A Oct race would be nice but it will have it's own problems..

Wayne

I could see where you would have other issues, but you should only have to worry about a few feet (meter) of snow in October! Cheesy

See you on the 11th!

Our Sept 11 race has turned into a big money race thanks to our supporters!
NCVWDRA racers are the best!! I love the thought of a 2 day race weekend!
QRP Saturday and PRP on Sunday!! Bang for the buck! that's what I'm talking about!

What does the NCVWDRA racers think about a race in October in conjunction with the QCR Fall Round Up? We could call it the " Run What Ya' Got Left Nationals at QCR".
Maybe 1/8 mile? Maybe on a Sunday?
Let me know and I will get with the track and maybe we could attract a few $$$ from some of our sponsors for one last blast in 2010.

Sounds good to me! Once the 12th has passed, there's only one more big event for me, and that's a non-timed fun run called the Flashlight Drags at the Wayne Co. Airport on the 30th of October. I'll probably run at the Fall Round Up anyways just because "it's that last run of the year". I really hope it's warmer than last years ending weekend in November when it was 46 degrees. Even though everyone attending the NCVWDRA Events so far has voted for 1/4 mile racing, Jim spoke with about 5 people at the car show wanting to only run 1/8th mile. I think the change to 1/8th would be cool. Just think Doug, then the difference would only be 3 seconds, instead of 6 seconds when we would race each other!

I thought I remember Doug mentioning that Brian Drew was going to try, and come out to both the Quaker, and PRP Races. He was running 6.80's at Drag Night, so that oughta be good for a solid high 10 second 1/4 mile pass. Daryl has low E.T. as of right now, correct? If he turns up the wick a little bit, or if Brian makes it out, they should be your only competition.

Be sure you post up in either this, or your engine thread, when the guy's at Dragway 42 kick you out tomorrow night for going too fast! Grin

Just got off the phone with Doug, and for the last race, heres a change for the perfect reaction payout. Used to be just eliminations were used for the perfect reaction time qualifying, but we will now use both time trials and eliminations for the payout. Take a shot at the tree, when a red lite won't put you on the trailer, and get as close to perfect as possible. Either way, someone WILL get the $100 payout at the end of the day. I have heard of a .499 red, as well as a .501 have been put up, so go for it.

Another traffic alert for those "doing the double" racing Saturday, and Sunday. For those using the Ohio/PA Turnpike, in PA they are in the process of widening the lanes from 4 to 6. Depending on traffic, this may add 30 to 60 minutes on to your trip to PRP. So, in other words, cut Doug off early so he can make it up early enough to make it to PRP on time.  Grin

Alrighty racers! Our final race of the 2010 season is Tommorrow!!!!!! Get your heaps ready cuz there is
an extra $400 in the pot for the winner and runner up! Thanks to the sale of NCVWDRA decals I am throwing $200
in for the winner and R/U and Larry Herold is matching that with another $200!!!! This is in addition to the regular
bonus cash from our sponsors: Dowd Floors Inc.   $100
                                         Jim's Custom VW's  $100
                                  Simpson Racing Engines  $100
                                                 Stadium VW   $100
Plus a 100% payout from Quaker City Raceway for a 20 car field we will have $1600 cash to pay out!!
PLUS!!! We have a case of Brad Penn 20/50Racing oil from Geno's VW for the winner!!!
We have a $50 gift certificate from Rancho Transmissions for the winner!!!
We have a $50 gift certificate from Action Imports for the winner!!!
We have a $50 gift certificate from Bugstuff for the winner!!!

We will be paying the semifinal runners up $75 from the entry fees. The rest will be split 75%-25% between the
winner and runner up!!!
But wait there's more!!!
Any racer that wins a NCVWDRA race and wins their class at the Pittsburgh Classic will win an additional $100 from K&L Motorsports!!!
WOW!!!!
The final NCVWDRA race at Quaker City Raceway In Salem, Ohio is Saturday September 11. Gates open at 10:30AM.
Following the NCVWDRA race will be a campfire with adult beverages flowing freely. Camping is welcome at Quaker City and we can caravan to the Pittsburgh Classic at Pittsburgh Raceway Park In New Alexandria, PA the next morning to race again!!! There is alot of bang for your racing buck the weekend of September 11-12. Two races at two different tracks in two days with huge money up for grabs!!! Why waste your time at a cruise-in on Saturday night when you could be racing for alot of cash at QCR? Come on out and support the NCVWDRA as the NCVWDRA supports the Pittsburgh Classic!
Please call or email Doug Dowd at racerd6370@adelphia.net or 330 206 3548 if you have any questions about the NCVWDRA races.
See you at the track!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Steven Pocaro and FASRNU Racing has put up $100 for
a perfect reaction time during eliminations. If nobody cuts a perfect light at this
last race of the year, the cash will be paid out to the closest to perfect during eliminations or time trials!! Best R/T of the day gets the cash!! Scott Pocaro has put up $100 for the low ET of eliminations for the
quickest pass of the year. Scott has also donated a large trophy to the winner of
the Low ET and this ET will stand as the NCVWDRA record for 2010!! Currently
the lowest ET of 2010 eliminations is held by Daryl Reynolds with a 11.71 pass
in his turbo 64 vert. That number will surely be lowered at this race as the racers
will be pulling out all the stops to earn bragging rights for the winter. Our winner will
also receive a trophy hand crafted by our own Jack Spencer!
We have commitments from some heavy hitters from southern Ohio and New Jersey
planning to race this two day, two race, two track weekend! Spectators from as far away as Atlanta, GA are coming as well!! Don't miss it!!
See you at the track!!!

I will do a better write up tomorrow as I am beat and need to get to bed for the Pittsburg race tomorrow...

In short.. I WON..... BIGTIME.....

The car was a machine today. Running some killer passes.
First round of elims, I got the by run, so I let it all hang out and made a nice clean pass.
10.85.
That was good enough to win Low E.T. for the year award (tropey and $100). I'm now the NCVDRA record holder.

Somehow in Elims, I got a few lucky breaks driving around all takers and ended up in the final.
My opponenet broke out, so I got the WIN.
The Payout was $1376 cash (plus gift certificates)...
I was stunned. I have never had a payday like that before.
We had no less than 23 cars show up for first round. It was the best turnout ever....
What a great day it was..

Thanks to all the sponsors and participants. Pure fun....

Ohio Tom did take the win at PRP on Sunday! He had a very profitable
weekend and his car ran great. Gary Seigneur took the best reaction cash
with a .502 right off the trailer in first round time trials. We actually had 25
cars entered at Quaker City for the NCVWDRA race Saturday.
I'll post more later cuz I gotta go to work now.

here is a message from Geno Boyd, one of our main sponsors and promoters of this race:

I want to thank Doug Dowd for all the hard work he did putting these 4 races
together at Quaker City Raceway, all the racers and others who participated.
I also want to thank all the sponsors who helped support this effort.
I, for one had alot of fun after not racing for 31 years. At 67, the first
run down the track
was quite a rush and I am looking forward to October and next year. The
little 1641 motor
has worked out as good as I expected and if I fine line it, I may be able
to get more out
of it. This last weekend, I dialed two runs at 16.37 back to back but when
that big turbo car
came up to run me and had to spot me, I figured "Oh Hell, I'm going as hard
as I can because
I didn't want him to pass me". So I ran a 16.14 and surprised myself. I'm
sure the car is capable
of running 15's with some tweaking. I want to thank Ohio Tom for helping
tweak the motor and
Darryl Reynolds for doing the fuel lines for me. This is what the VW
friendship is all about.
The Pennsylvania Ohio VW Enthusiasts now have 41 member in the group! Later
in October, hope
to have hamburgers and hotdogs at the house for all the members. I'll get
back to all with a date.
Thanks Geno

The 4th NCVWDRA race of 2010 is official. What an awesome weekend of racing!! We had no less than 25
cars enter to race Saturday at Quaker City Raceway in Salem, Ohio for what was to be our largest payout
EVER!!! Racers came from Ohio, Pennsylvania, Kentucky and Canada for a shot at the huge cash purse and
prizes up for grabs at this event. I want to personally thank each and every racer, crew member and spectator
who has attended these races for making them a huge success! We had two photographers drive up from Atlanta,GA
to hangout and shoot photos for the NCVWDRA at this event. They then burned about 18 DVDs in my trailer and handed them out and would not accept any money for their efforts. Thank you Tony and Charlie!!!
The racing was intense as we all knew how much cash was up for grabs but after 5 round only 3 drivers remained.
Wayne Goddard earned the Semi finalist spot placing Phil McLish in his 19sec rabbit pickup against Ohio Tom Simpson
in the 10.85 "Killa Bee". The final round was close at the stripe with Ohio Tom taking the win! Tom's win earned him
over $1600 in cash and prizes including a hand made trophy built and donated by our own Jack Spencer. Nice job Tom!!
Runner Up Plil McLish took home over $450 in cash for his efforts. Way to go gentlemen!!
The NCVWDRA will have one final race this year on Sunday October 17. Gates open at 10:30 with Time Trials around
noon. This will be an 1/8 mile race in conjunction with Quaker City's Fall Roundup and will be the final day of racing at QCR in 2010. See you at the track!!

Sorry it took me a week to get the results up but it took that long to catch up with everything I've neglected since the end of August.  running 3 races at 3 different tracks in 2 consecutive weekends in 2 different states put me a little behind!

Alrighty Racers! The NCVWDRA has put together one more VW Bracket Eliminator at Quaker City Raceway in Salem Ohio
for the 2010 season! SUNDAY OCTOBER 17th! That's SUNDAY! We will be running 1/8 mile for this race to give those who
didn't want to run 1/4 mile a chance to participate. Gates open at 10:30 AM with time trials about noon. Eliminations will
be 3-4PM.
We will have 100% payout of the $40 entry fees and bonus cash!!!
Dowd Floors has put up $100 to split between the winner and R/U $75/$25
Simpson Racing Engines is in for $100 split the same way
Eric "Big Daddy" Hengstenberger has contributed $100 for the Winner and R/U -$75/$25
Geno's VW's has donated a case of Brad Penn oil for the winner and
Jim's Custom VW's has a $50 gift certificate for the winner of this race.

We will pay semi final R/U's $75 from the entry fees with the remainder split between the winner and R/U 75%-25%
For a 15 car field we will have $900 in cash!! In addition we have a 50 year old Quaker City Timing Association trophy
donated by our own Jack Spencer for the winner of this event. Very nice!
I want to thank all who stepped up with cash and prizes for this impromtu race!
If there is anyone else who would like to add something to the purse please let me know so I can make the announcement.

This is the final race date of the 2010 season at QCR and could possibly be the final race ever at this historic facility as it is
going to absolute auction on Tuesday October 19. Quaker City has been good to the NCVWDRA and I want to thank Dan Swindell
and Ann Reed for their support of our organization. I wish them the best of luck with their future endeavors.
I will not speculate on the future of Quaker City Raceway in this thread. I only hope it will remain open for future generations of drag racers
in this area. We will see. Don't miss the opportunity to race at Quaker City!!
See you at the track!!!!!!
