Announcing the formation of the North Coast VW Drag Racing Association!
Beginning in 2010 the NCVWDRA will be promoting VW drag racing at
Quaker City Raceway in Salem, Ohio. We have four races planned for the
2010 season and will be scheduling with the track over the winter.
This series was known as the Jim's Custom VW's Bracket Eliminator at
Quaker City Raceway in 2009 and was by all involved a huge success.
Races are run on a full 1/4 mile with a bracket format. All VW powered
vehicles are welcome. Cut a light and run your number.
The NCVWDRA is a loose organization run by the racers, for the racers.
Issues are decided by participant vote at a drivers meeting at each race.
The name has been changed to attract more sponsorship dollars and to encourage
more racers to participate.
There will be more info on the schedule and series sponsors as the year
progresses.
Keep an eye on this thread.
There will be two contacts for info regarding this series:
Doug Dowd - racerd6370@adelphia.net or phone 330-206-3548
Rich Sedoris - brotherhoodvw@juno.com or phone 330-518-3746

Rich and I will be working hard to secure sponsorship dollars and come up with a
logo/decals and possibly T-shirts for 2010. Feel free to contact either of us as
we are always ready to talk VW drag racing.

Alrighty racers! The North Coast VW Drag Racing Association is preparing for 2010! I have a call into
Quaker City Raceway to verify we will get the same deal as last season and I'm starting to look at race dates.
I hesitated just a bit to see what the SEVWA and ECPRA schedules are so our races don't conflict with other
VW events in our region. Last season was a blast at Quaker City in Salem, Ohio and I'm sure 2010 will be as well.
We are planning four races like last year but for 2010 we will try to avoid the rain. All races will be on Saturdays and
be an add on class to the regular program at QCR. This affords us the opportunity to showcase what VW bracket racing
is all about with fans in the stands!
We are actively seeking sponsors for this series so if you have any ideas or want to help the program please contact myself,
Doug Dowd at racerd6370@adelphia.net or by phone at 330-206-3548 or
Rich Sedoris at brotherhoodvw@juno.com or by phone at 330-518-3746

Watch this thread for info and announcements regarding the NCVWDRA!

I spoke to track owner Dan Swindell last evening and I need to get some potential dates
to him soon. I need to know when Larry's Offroad Nationals, both races at US131, the Shawshank
and Columbus shows are scheduled so I don't schedule on top of them. Also, who wants to do the back to back
QCR/Pittsburgh race on the same weekend again? I know this worked out well for our Canadian friends
who made a weekend out of it as well as Joey from Kentucky. Let me know these dates if you've got em'.
Thanks.

Hey'all.
I'm in for 2010.   Doug,  Rich, let me know when you have a flier together, and I'll print all you need.    Posters also if you need them.  I'm fired up to have some VW events with racing in my area.   I'll do all that I can to help the cause. -       Doug......   I have a guy who may be able to do a promotional video like we talked about.

That's cool! Bolt something together and bring it out to Quaker City and bracket race it!
There will be $$$ to be had for the racer that can put it all together and win!!
You will make some new friends in the process.
As always, if you have any questions please feel free to contact me or Rich Sedoris.
Keep an eye on this thread for more info.
See you at the track!!!

Alrighty racers! We have submitted dates to the track for our 2010 season. These dates are subject to change
if they conflict with races already set or reserved by IHRA at QCR. I am confident they will go as planned.
We are shooting for:
Saturday June 19
Saturday July 24
Saturday August 21
Saturday September 11

I will post the finalized schedule as soon as it is set in stone. I have spent hours making sure these dates do not
conflict with any established regional VW shows or races and I think we are good to go if these dates work with
the track. I will know within a couple weeks.
If anyone has any questions or comments please feel free to contact me at racerd6370@adelphia.net or by phone
at 330-206-3548.
Thanks,
Doug Dowd

That's awesome Rich! Great work!! Really an eye catcher.
It's gonna look great on some decals and maybe some T-shirts!
I say we go with that as the official logo of the NCVWDRA.
Anyone care to second?

X4, looks cool to me! I haven't seen too many companys that produce a full color printed sticker that doesn't get washed out after a while after being placed on a car that sees the weather. Hey Rich, what would you think about making just an outline version, so you get a single color cut vinyl sticker version for quarterwindows?

Well, after getting a outrageous quote from my sticker guy I'll have to do something like you're suggesting Geoff.

On other news the flier for 2010 is about 98% done, Doug has a proof and we should have something out soon.

I still like the full color version for toolbox stickers, and the like. How much would each one be? Let me know what font you're using, and I can help with the outline version if you need me to.

Last evening I got a call from the track and had to move the NCVWDRA race #3 from Saturday August 21 to
Saturday August 7 due to a conflicting track rental at QCR.
The North Coast VW Drag Racing Association corrected schedule is:
Saturday June 19
Saturday July 24
Saturday August 7
Saturday September 11

Dan Swindell, QCR's owner, also informed me that we are welcome to have a car show and swap meet in
conjunction with the drag races and he would provide space for such at no charge to the NCVWDRA!
Participants will only have to pay $10 admission at the gate. There will be no vendors fee for the swap meet!
The NCVWDRA events are now THE must attend VW events for this region.
More info as it becomes avaiable.

Please pass this info along to everyone interested in attending these events.
If you have any questions please contact Doug Dowd at racerd6370@adelphia.net or by phone 330-206-3548
See you at the track!!!
