Not to be rude as it looks like you are on the right path and really need wider slicks and a better transmission to get the times lower.

My good friend, Ray Dew, of League City, Texas ran a small 2175cc turbo using the single sidedraft Dellorto carb, I think it was a 45 mm.   With 8-10 pounds of boast his bug ran consistent 10.20's,,,with no problems for about three years, when he went to a more consistent Chevy for bracket racing.  I understand the person he sold the car moved the boast up and ran some high nines in the 1/4 mile.

But, he had a very trick type four tranny with seperate rods for each gear and eight inch slicks.   Like I said,,you need better tires and transmission.   But, the engine does sound good and did not melt down with the V8 guy taking his sweet time next to you in the video.

Good luck in the future runs......the two barrel holley seems to be the best idea, in my opinion.

I hate this.  No matter how fast you are, somebody always tells you what "you outta do to go fast".  I honestly don't know, but I am curious, how fast do you go?  High 10's?  I'm GUESSING no.  There is more than one way to do everything, some work for some, others work for others.  Tom is no dummy, sorry to jump on you like this, but can't you just say "Good job buddy"?

Superdrag.    Well said.  Tom is very savvy when it comes to VWs.  I think it is great that he has a 1600 plus lb. car going as fast as it is....

Thanks for the props guys.

Cam 2 is 110 octane.
I tried some V/P fuels ,C-16. It didn't do anything at my current boost setting(13psi).

Next season, the plan is to turn the knob up some and try 16-18psi.
However, my goal is to make my current gearbox live as-is.
This means, I cannot shoot for improving my 60' times. So, i think I will stick with just buying a new set of 6" slicks and letting them slip a little out of the hole.
Someday I will get an aftermarket mainshaft and build a "real" gearbox.
For now, I will stick with my AV code (Thing) box for as long as it will last.

My logic for this decision:
Currently, i have a set of 6" M+Hs on 6" raceweight rims (11lbs/wheel)
If I jump to running an 8" tire, then I will have to run a wider rim too.
The only rims I have are 7" wide set of centerlines.
So, If I run 8" tires on my centerline rims, I will be significant weight to the wheels/tires (like 20lbs).
So, for  the 8" slicks to give me any drop in E.T. it will have to more than offset the loss due to added weight. Also, it will add load to the gearbox.
So, you see the logic in leaving the combo "As is".

You know before I put Autocraft pistons in my two turbo engines for my old car I had Cima pistons and ran 24 lbs of boost without problems with a EF-60 and EE-70 turbos on them.

Good plan, Tom. Those "non-aftermarket" mainshafts will not hold very much without careful planning Wink

Ask me how I know......

Tom, did you have any problems with your end castings or couplings leaking? I have had one hell of a time getting mine to seal up. I just ordered some silicone couplings from hps. What did you use?
I am reAl close.

The "end castings" are really DCNF manafolds with big air boxes bolted on top. Then 2 1/4" tubing connects it all together. I bought my silicone couplings from turbohoses.com.
No issues of leakage that I know of. However, I am taking the motor out of the car and putting it back on the test stand so I can pressureize the manafold and look for leaks (to help with idle issue).
