I plan to attend as well. Looking forward to some fresh blood. I hear there should be quite a few new cars this year? Whats up? Nobody talking? The VW world needs to hear the promotion of who is planning to attend, new cars debuting, etc.

Gramazone said he predicts an all Geers Horsepower final>say it ain't so Grin

Larry's has always been a good time with great people. The cook out is worth getting there early for. I hope to make it, just depends on funds. Sounds like it's Geers horsepower vs. Warren's consistency. Warren has won the wars so far so who's going to step and knock him off this year?

John and Jason,

This is what we've been asking for from the Pro Stock Drivers for years. To get on here and hype it up. Hype Us up, make us want to come. Let us know who's coming and what surprises we might encounter at the race. Because if you don't, we don't come.

Thank you for helping to hype this event up and promote your class on the web.

As for Grama... he needs to lay off the beer. Don't forget about Skaggs and Frey. They go some HP as well Smiley

Personally never been to the Larry's event but due plan to attend this year--God willing and the creek don't rise & DIESEL FUEL prices come way down. Anyone have the skinny of JD Curry & Brian Drew? Are they planning on attending especially since the event is relatively close to them?

Dougzilla, good to hear your gonna go too!

I guess I can agree with Stephen Hawes on 1 topic---I don't have a grasp on why the ECPRA P/S teams don't do more web promotion? The sponsors, fans, VW people all together would greatly benefit if some effort was put forth by the P/S & P/M teams about upcoming events. After all isn't P/S & P/M the ultimate classes for VW racing?

The racers have a duty to help the promoters help earn a return on ivestment for the payouts received....if not the return will not be there for either and that means racing w/o nice purses. Just think-a little promotion could help get all the cars not showing up to start showing up--which means more entry fees to be added to purse payouts.

Look what Scott Sain has done with VW DRAG NIGHT. He promoted the heck out of the event and has West Coast racers come out both years for P/M but I never really saw any P/S promotion from any of the racers? Just saying...
With a vested interest myself I would like to start seeing more of the racers chime in with event promotion. It will be worth the little effort needed. Get people excited and give them a reason to show up and participate, watch, swap meet, car show, etc.

Lets see you do it.

Think my heap can be Pro Stock legal this year? I'd run P/S at
Larry's Offroad if a descision can be made in time for me to add
the required weight. The old center steer car would maybe fill the field.
Just asking.

Doug,
I guess the "powers to be" can provide input on your request. My opinion is that your car should be "grandfathered" in and be allowed to participate. Again its not like there are 16 P/S at each event competing for a qualifying spot. Sometimes rules need to be looked at and modified to help grow participation but others don't see it that way. As long as you can meet the 9lbs per cubin inch and run the required fuel then what other performance advantage could you have? This isn't a big modification in the overall rules either. I believe your car overall meets the standard except for the seat.

Have you tried moving your seat a tad to the left so it wouldnt be considered a center seat?

Good luck and I am hopeful you will not be excluded.

I know the rules say no center seat cars, but unsure how they would feel about that... I know there are some in the class that would jump on the rule book train and some would say as long as he makes the weight to CI we dont care,BUUUUUUUTTTT thee only way and I mean only way to truely know is just to give Gene a jingle right now, not the day before the race... and check the rules out on the PRA website to see if any other violations might come up.

I've asked this same question every January for the last 4 years.
Just the opportunity to run Pro Stock is all I've ever asked for.
My heap can't run Harmon/Skaggs/ Fry numbers but I feel I could
qualify. I cannot commit to a full season of travel to Pro Stock but
I am at Larry's Offroad every year.
Just asking.

Doug,
If you haven't already done so, call Gene.  He doesn't have a computer (or at least one that works) so a phone is your best bet.  If you don't have his number, shoot me a PM and I'll hook you up.  If nothing else, I'd think we could pass it around to everyone and see if we can do a variance vote or something, but not my call.

And for anyone who's never been to a Larrys' race, YES this is a sweet event.  I may be a little biased because its in my backyard, but you can't argue that Larry, Marty, Ron and the rest of their gang go all out to make sure everyone hs a good time.  Last year even with the rain out, they still cooked burgers and hot dogs for everyone who hung out and we just had a big party just outside the race track gates with an impromptu car show in the field nearby.  You won't regret coming to this one, regardless of the weather.  And I personally promise to have all of the snow cleaned up by then.  Wink

Best of all, things are already looking good for having a 16 car field.
So far we've got:
1: Warren Skaggs
2: Alan Fore
3: Denis Elliot
4: Damon Harmon
5: Jason Poynter
6: John Strnad
7: J.D. Curry
8: Brian Drew
9: Gene Collier <-- with new and improved Pro Stock motor he's debuting at Larry's
10: Seigfried & Bly
11: Mike Booher <-- Debuting the new and improved Mega Bug at Larry's
12: Frank Daniel  <-- rumor has it he's been busy squeezing some major power from his heads too
13: Dougzilla?  <-- Come on Doug, let's make it happen this year.
14: <fill in the blanks>
15:
16:

So we've got a few months to fill out the rest of the field and several more drivers and cars out there.  I want to see a 16 car pro stock field at Larrys this year.  The money's definitely there to lure in the masses.  Larry's has put $1000 in for the base purse, then local sponsors Jim Unger Racing, Ron's Performance Machining, The Garaj, and Global Automation Service have collectively thrown another $400 in the pot.  Add in the driver contributions from entry fees and a 16 car field would put the purse at $3200 for pro stock.  Even with a 12 car field its still at $2750.  Plus Jim Unger has also put up bonus money for low ET, High MPH, and best reaction time.

So, bottom line:  Come see us in Xenia this summer.  Come at least one day early to hit the super sale at larrys in the morning and enjoy some free food and good times at the track in the evening.  In the hours in between why not check out the Packard Museum, the Air Force Museum or perhaps join in on our annual private tour of the Taj Ma Garaj (Porsche Museum run by John Dixon good friend of the local VW scene) all just a few minutes from the track.

Any questions about the event, drop me a line and we'll find an answer.  Lets work together to make this awesome event even bigger.

Skaggs Racing will be at Larry’s and can’t wait to get the season started!  Larry’s is a great way to kick off the schedule.  It is always a great time with great people who really care about the VW Community.  They are so nice to always have everyone out for a cook out the night before the race at the track and it is nice getting to catch up with everyone after the winter break.   Larry, Ron, Marti, and the entire crew
have been with the ECPRA since the very beginning and always generously
pay the full purse regardless of car count.

So boys get out to your garages and take those covers off your cars and plan to join us on June 4th and 5th!!!!!  Sure would be nice to actually have a 16 car field as opposed to just day dreaming about one!!!

Ok everyone Quarter Toy racing will again comment to this race. One car maybe two? Larry and crew has always been very hospitable to everyone who attends. I enjoy this track, its fast and I think my record went down here. Will the new record go into the 5's this year? Who knows what will happen but QT racing will give it a good try. A 16 car field would be awesome! Looking forward to seeing all of my fellow racers. Calling out, not yet on the list... Tay and Ed, Ollie and crew, I want to see ya'll come out.
