Coming up? like on the back tires or just skating on the fronts.... Im thinking you need to give some car specs to help ya out.... Car weight, Eng Disp, ride height front and rear front suspension....

1/8 or 1/4?  Could be to high and air getting under it. Do you have caster shims behind the beam?  These are 2 issues we have overcome in the past when ironed out, it drives like a cadillac

Try caster shims first. They are real cheap. Just need longer bolts to hold the beam on too. Buy 4 so you can start out with  1 thick. And then double them and see how it works

Caster is what it sounds like to me if you left the front down. When you raised the back and left the front down that effectively removed caster.

Just remember the side profile of a VW looks an awful lot to the profile of todays modern airplane wing cross section so the more air you get under the car thee more lift the car will see
ONe might considering breaking the air out from under the car or diverting the air out to the sides
