I'm trying to get our racing schedule set-up for the coming season and I've not heard anything of races in the midwest. Anyone have any dates or locations ready?

We're alittle more west than midwest but Aug 5th in Denver is the NuVintage Bug-in At Bandimere Speedway.  If you haven't been here before Bandimere is one of the best NHRA tracks there is and they know how to run an event.  Here's the link http://www.bandimere.com/events/event_detail.php?eventID=137.  Drop me a PM if you need more info.

Check NHRA SportCompacts site, to see when they will be at Indy. Check with jack Sacchette to see if the ProStock show is going back there, or not.It all depends on how far you want to travel also.

Thanks for the input Ryan! I love Colorado and have been there in the summer only once but want to go back.

1969dragbug, I'm aware of  the NHRA events, but I was looking for events more oriented toward VW's. Last year there was a series of events in the midwest, but I've not heard anything about a schedule from them for this year. If the Pro-Stock nationals happen in the midwest again, I'll be there. In '06 there were three dragraces all on the same weekend. We opted to go to the one where we could win some cash. Thanks for oyur input, though.

Any more in the midwest? Chuck? Ray?

Is there ever anything at cordova dragstrip in is it Joliet? IL.?  I grew up out there and went to several races there and would like to run out there someday at a vw event if one existed.

Realfastbug- It's funny you mention Cordova (near the quad-cities). My brother and I took our VW to a DSM event there and stunned more than a few guys. We were on the way to third place ($350) but we lost second gear just before the final. Isn't that the luck? Did you ever make it to Byron near Rockford? We were going to BOTI at Joliet, Rt. 66, but had too many events on one weekend.

Thanks Ray! I look forward to hearing from you.

There is always the Import wars at Greatlakes Dragaway. It is not vw only but we do have quite a few that show up.

Hey Chuck-

I've been hangin' with Rich from Dubwerks (Red gti). He's been giving us some grief to make one of the IW's. I was going to make the last one of last season, but didn't want to drive that far if it was going to rain.

Any word on the MOFOCO event, Chuck?

I actually grew up through my freshman year of high school in the quad cities (East moline).  Funny thing is half my relatives there (my grandparents) would be too worried to watch me race.

The MOFOCO event (bugfest) will be held at the same time the import wars is going on, I think in August.

"Midwest" is sometimes considered Chicago? I never could understand that. Kansas City it truly "Mid". Anyway there is a Bug shop called "Bugs & Buggies" (816-792-1250) here that has been doing an all VW day at Kansas City International Raceway during the summer. I believe in early May? They also did it again a few months later. It was nicely attended on the first one since I was there I know this. Quite a few very quick cars. Also had a show.

It's not really a 'race', but Gateway in St Louis has a Tuesday night TnT where they run off the two fastest FWDs and the winner gets a TROPHY Shocked
