Title: Re: Have Ya seen this ! Post by: Steve Arndt on January 16, 2007, 11:40:11 am What are those Allen head screws that are on the outside of the intake port?

Post by: QuickKafer on January 16, 2007, 01:37:45 pm What are those Allen head screws that are on the outside of the intake port? Those allen head screws might be just plugs. Maybe the heads had some test equipment hooked up to them. It's hard to say without seeing the intake port from the chamber side. Maybe a heat thermocupler was positioned there to get a head temp reading? It's hard to speculate. Scott Faivre Title: Re: Have Ya seen this ! Post by: dangerous on January 16, 2007, 03:49:05 pm Those heads were an old set of clunker Midget heads that mike scored on the cheap,
and those holes are indeed plugs. Someone had tried to move the nozzles for the MFI down there instead of in the intake manifold as they normally are. Title: Re: Have Ya seen this ! Post by: QuickKafer on January 16, 2007, 05:04:01 pm Someone had tried to move the nozzles for the MFI down there instead of in the intake manifold as they normally are. That was my other guess, but I ruled that out due to the fact that the injectors are supposed to spray at the back of the valve head. At that angle, it looked like they'd be spraying the opposing wall of the intake port. That, and the fact that I couldn't see the port from the chamber side and see if the holes went all the way through the casting. I love the way that he was so resourceful though! Score them cheap, perform a simple and effective repair, and away you go! Nice job! ;) Scott Faivre Title: Re: Have Ya seen this ! Title: Re: Have Ya seen this ! Post by: turbo_bob on January 19, 2007, 05:57:04 pm What kind of Toyota used that style of supercharger ?
Title: Re: Have Ya seen this ! Post by: dangerous on January 19, 2007, 06:26:48 pm There are two different engines one is a six cylinder (cant recall engine designation),
but the 4 cylinder version was 4AGZE. The 4 cylinder engine came from MR2 sports cars available in Japan. If you google toyota superchargers you may find a lot of info. Mikes car ran in the 10.3's with just one of the 6 cylinder versions, on his 1775cc engine. It had a swept volume of about 1.4 liters per rev. Title: Re: Have Ya seen this ! Post by: DragNfly on January 20, 2007, 07:17:51 am The other Toyota 4cyl. that used a supercharger was the Toyota Previa Van. They came on some of the all-trac ones.It even used a elect. clutch to turn it on when boost was needed. The MR2 with the supercharged 4AGZE was sold in the US,I think it was in 1988.
