I've seen NO promotion for this. Who's putting it on?  Who's idea was it?  Any classes or pay out?

I figured with the east coast racer population here, someone might know.

Sweet I will be there if my car doesn't blow up at the pittsburg race.
Just a half hour away. Sweet. Should be fun

Not much of an update, but according to the track they are piggybacking on their regular Saturday test and tune program.

Three weeks away, haven't seen much of any promotion on the event. I'll be there regardless.

Hey, I actually am the one that sorta put this together. Granted, this is my first time doing a show, and I've tried to promote the best I could. I passed out flyers at Litchfield (Terryville was pretty much a rainout) and posted it on the Samba, Volksrods, the East Coast Show Schedule, etc. as well as Facebook and such. So yeah, I guess I'm a novice with this stuff, and I thought I was promoting it well, but I guess I have a lot to learn!
Nonetheless, I'd like to see a ton of folks there, and I'll have to step up my promoting skills quick. I'm sure whoever shows up will have a blast, the track is great, the area is beautiful, and the folks that run the track have been super-helpful and very accommodating to us. Litchfield and Terryville are usually my favorite VW events of the year, but with the closest VW event with drags being Atco and Maple Grove, I always wanted to see an event with more heads-up drags, a looser, more fun atmosphere, way lower costs, and a total lack of those kids in their junior dragsters that inexplicably run for hours at the bigger tracks during the VW events!!

Oh, and no promises, but when I was talking to the track owner, we were discussing a possible payout.

Good Luck on this event. I know the track is very good and the people the Dimino's are very nice people that own the track we met them a couple weeks ago when we were there. The track also was in good shape for us to make some 6 second passes at over 200 mph.

I'd like to check this out, it's much closer to me than other events, but after Manassas I have to save my pennies.  Next year I may not do the "regular circuit" and look into some other events, maybe I will try it next year if it happens again.  Sorry I couldn't support it this year.

If it's any consolation, the show is dirt cheap. 7 bucks to spectate, show, or vend and 20 bucks to race all you want, no eliminations.

Weather permitting , I plan on attending with my Orange car. I have a few friends with Race cars heading that way also. It cost $20 to $40 to go Testing pretty much where ever you go. Most of the time you are the only VW at the track. So to be with a group of other VW's in a crowd of V-8's , it makes it all the better . It dont matter to me if there is payout or not. The season is pretty much over for racing . Anytime I can squeeze in one more day in the cool fall weather, I take full advantage.

No worries, the track did NOT get flooded, and the show is still on. They ran this past weekend and had a good turnout with good conditions. A couple surrounding towns did get hit hard, but the roads are now open, and the weather forecast looks beautiful for Saturday. Here we go!

Junkyard, it's the 17th, this Saturday. Here's the link on the track page for all the info:

I had a fun day. Only a handful of VWs, but enjoyed talking to people and running the car. Some good V8 stuff showed up as well.

Despite the low turnout, the folks that did turn out showed off some awesome machinery! I had a great time, and everyone I met was the coolest. I met a lot of new friends, and many fellow VW guys I never knew were right in my area! And, with the vast amount of encouragement I received this weekend, as well as the support of the track owner, we will have more events in the future!

Hey Don, Thanks for putting on this event. It had a great vibe with the track atmosphere and all. I got to see a lot of faces that I have not in years. This show should be supported in the future because it has the potential to be really good. My car ran great all day, it just needed a better driver Roll Eyes

I had a great time just wish I had my car together. I know there were a few guys there with cars in pieces. We are all shooting for next year.
I think that this show has the potential of being just like Beaver Springs used to be. Just need to promote it like a year ahead.
Try to get some sponsors to throw in some money for the racer payout. Try to get one of the points organizations involved to make it a points race and you will definitly get more cars. What about that MANDRA series they just started. It would also be great if it was an unlimited street east race or something like that.
Just some ideas to make it better.
Hope to see some fast cars next year.

Keep the ideas coming! Bob DiMino (the track owner) is totally in for doing another one this year, and with all the encouragement, so am I. I could sure use some help with planning and such. I am a total novice at this, but I'm a quick learn!
