They have the 5th down as being a test & tune.  Are we going to see some VW vs. rice burners and V8 races?

Here is what we have posted on the PRA website so far, additional details coming soon -

"The Pro Racing Association has added another points race to the schedule, bringing the total number of events in 2011 to six.  The West Coast Hot Rod Association has invited the PRA to come out and race with them at their August 5-6 event at Auto Club Famoso Raceway in Bakersfield, California.  Qualifying will be held on Friday night, August 5th with eliminations on Saturday night, August 6th.  The three PRA heads-up classes (EMPI Pro Modified, Heads-Up Performance Super Street and CB 044 Pro Gas) will run with their fellow PRA heads-up opponents and earn points based on the current PRA points system.  The remaining PRA classes are invited to run in current WCHRA classes with a decision on how points will be awarded to these classes made soon.  Some details are still being worked out and as they become available will be posted."

Great, this is what is needed to increase the turnout and interest in the non-mainstream niches of drag racing (anything other than NHRA I guess).  I would love to see the Red Baron spank a few muscle cars!

This was posted on the PRA website this afternoon -

"The Pro Racing Association's Super Comp, Super Gas and Pro Eliminator classes will not take part in the scheduled points race at the West Coast Hot Rod Association event at Famoso Raceway on August 5th-6th.  After further research into all aspects of including our S/C, S/G and P/E classes into the WCHRA race program it has been determined it would impose unnecessary burdens on all racers involved.

The PRA is looking forward to establishing a relationship with the WCHRA at this summers event by showcasing the PRA with our Pro Modified, Super Street and Pro Gas classes.  Our goal is to establish a good relationship with the WCHRA in hopes that in the future we can bring our whole race program to some of their yearly events."

Thank-you to all PRA members who provided feedback on this matter.  If there are any questions or concerns please contact Kevin Reynolds by email at racepra@yahoo.com or by telephone (714) 812-8336.

Thanks,

Jason

Is this race still on?  It's listed on the WCHRA's site, but not on Famoso's schedule.  By the way, is anyone racing with WCHRA this year?

Madoski,

Nothing has been mentioned to me saying it is not.  I will check with Kevin and Jerry to make sure there hasn't been any changes since we last spoke about it.

Well Mike (and Mike and Troy), I've been working on this ratty '69 Ghia I picked up a couple months ago, nothing special, it's supposed to have an 1835 in it, but maybe I'll have it together enough to drive it down there make some passes next year.  Don't know much about it, but I have some Kadrons and an SVDA for it.  If only CB would sponsor me with an engine...   Smiley

....try to stay cool!

PRA site:  "Lauffer also set the PRA Pro Modified ET record with an 8.039 in his second round bye run."

Looks like another Pro Mod is very close to running high 7!
