I have an Autocraft 96.5 barrel here that is 99.5mm base and 104mm top.
It uses a larger than stock stud pattern.

The "drag racing 96.7" size that is often listed is another beast altogether
that is designed for standard type 1 stud pattern,
so only has a small location for the barrel(not sure what size?)
and case is machined to support the piston(96.8?)

Not too sure about 96.5, but I have a 96.7 setup in a mag case and the bore size for the opening is 3.815".  The opening supports the piston skirt.  Try calling Rimco or JayCee to be sure for a 96.5 setup.
