you shouldn't have a problem as long as you use the zinc addative.

I posted on here earlier about a 2276 I bought that had a FK-7 in it.  I took the engine apart to go through it, and after consideration I had the cam reground to the FK-8 specs.  This means that a small amount of the base circle - maybe .050" - had to be ground off to get the bigger cam profile.  I had the cam parkerized as well, and had the OG VW lifters reground and parkerized as well.  These parts have been sitting on my shelf until I can get around to assembling my motor, but part of my hesitation is my fear of this cam/lifters getting wiped out.  I have had TERRIBLE luck through the years with that happening.  I plan on running Brad Penn oil, and adding ZDDP additive for break-in, but I'm still scared.  I'd LOVE to be able to swing a new cam and Udo Becker steel tool lifters, but it just isn't in the budget.  Any advice out there?

In all fairness, and my comment isn't directed at Moore Parts by any means, I broke my pump puller (purchased elsewhere, but they all come from the same place, more or less, lol) with all bolts loosened and very little pressure applied.  It snapped like a twig right at the weld.  I have an older one that's had the "T" bent numerous times but not broken yet to date... I suspect some of the newer pump pullers are of much lower grade quality than in years past.

Max-Indicating Liquid-Filled Gauge

This gauge has a red needle that indicates the highest pressure reached since the last setting. Gauges have a glycerin-filled dial to reduce needle flutter in environments prone to vibration. Case is brass and lens is acrylic. Temperature range is 0° to 140° F. fits a 2 1/2" dia. panel cutout.

it's getting close.  i have a few weeks left to get people on the sponsor list.  i just picked up a few new ones including rimco, beaver dam customs, fisher buggies, and alte schule car club from florida.  john from kustom coach werks has also joined as a sponsor again for the 4th consecutive year.  thanks everybody for your support.  the purse is huge and the sponsors make it happen.

we still have the $500 bonus for a west coast car winning the pro mod and or pro stock class!  the sponsor added the pro stock bonus too so bring them on over west coasters.

ken fisher will be here with his car again.  i think he has been here 4 years in a row.  thank you ken and fisher buggies.

it also seems like there will be a huge contention for the ASA class.  we are excited for the class to debut here and hopefully be the start of a long standing class.

that is all for now.  see you here hopefully.

Kevin, he said that tuning is your problem with the lag.

Try the easiest options first. Cam timing will help a little but i really do think it all comes down to port velocity more than cam. The physics behind the combustion engine is just something we can't escape.
Low rpm,big ports and valves=slow air speed
Good luck with your project Kevin. I will be interested in hearing the results of your efforts.
