Buy it complete. Do it right the first time with all the parts you will need. It will cost more to put a kit together that you get from someone. IMHO

Thanks for the replies, however the whole reason I am posting here is because I know what a new kit will cost me ($675.00 shipped to my door from holley) Why would I pay $650 for a used one plus shipping???

Don't forget, you need more then just the kit if you want to keep it together. Look at Holley's recommended parts. You should have a fuel pressure safety switch(hob switch), secondary fuel supply(so you don't lean out the motor) and a window switch is nice when running any type of rev limiter. Many people that have tried NOS say it sucks because the don't do there homework to buy the right safety parts. They think buy a kit for $650 and add 200+ hp. My point is, do it right and you'll love it and cut corners and you'll never run it again. Ask Newcomb if you want to do it right.

Hey thanks for the reply. I agree with the "do it right the first time" way of thinking. This thing is going in my 23 window I had at Hot VW's drag day. I have done a great deal of homework on what I need to do it right. Currently my 23 window with all the interior on street tires, type one transaxle, and a 2276 being fed through a pair of 48ida's turns a 10.5 at about 64mph but 3rd gear is long and boaring.... So I think a mid boost of 50-100 shot will do it good after about 3200 rpms WOT. I built the engine strong all then best parts and all new...
Thanks for the extra imput....

hey look, he's got it down to 600$ or offers now. Also this kit has a purge valve you can't possbly get anything cheaper (especially not delivered to you door) with everything included in this deal. Not trying to Argue just might be helping you out. If i were looking to set up nos i'd look into it since you'd have at least 750$ into the same set up. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=336697

fuel pump, fuel regulator, fuel pressure gauge, fuel tubing, fuel line, fuel fittings, wire, electrical switch to arm, hobbs switch, window switch to activate it, some form of retarding device to retard the timing, and a book to learn how to properly tune the system so you dont miss use it, blow the motor up and blame it on N2O!

Will I need a bottle warmer even with a bottle blanket?? I live in San Diego and thought the best temperature was from 75-85 degrees.... Fuel stuff: I have it all.. Hobbs switch? please explain retard devise: Can't I just retard the timing before running it? window switch: should I use one I thought I would only push the switch after hitting 3,000 rpm Any body have a suggestion on a good book?

You need consistent bottle temperature. Sure some time of the year it may be alright but other times you will need to heat it and other times you will need ice to cool it. Fuel stuff; you will need a dedicated fuel system to the NOS side. You don’t want to use one fuel supply for both the motor and the NOS. You will go lean and go BOOM at some point with out this set up. Hobb switch will shut down the NOS system if your fuel pressure drops. This way you will not go lean and go BOOM. Window switch is a nice safety set up. If you miss a gear and it tachs up too high this is not good. Also if you have a max rev limiter it will shut off the spark but not the NOS. The window switch will shut off the system when revs get too high not just too low.
Anyways this is how and why I use this setup. I have used it for two years with no problems. This is the Jeff Newcomb way and it seems to work. The other guys that say “NOS doesn’t work” don’t set the system up right and they go BOOM.

That is not true. You can run one pump for both systems.

Not everyone can afford a magnaflow/bg/pe/etc system so that is why I recommend 2 systems. 1100.00 pump reg bypass bleed etc. is extreme overkill for a 75hp system IMO. Different strokes for different folks.

I agree with Jeff. Fuel systems can get expensive. Most people aren't going to spend $500+ on a fuel pump alone. Everything on my car is overkill. I have a(460gph) Product Engineering fuel pump. I know many cars running over 730ci with Dual Split Dominators and 4 stages of nitrous off of one pump. Especially for a VW with a 12v battery and no alternator I recommend one pump. 2 pumps, ignition, solenoids, lights, etc.,etc. is a serious load on a 12v battery without the belt on. I would recommend some kind of alternator or switching to a 16v system. MSD ignitions start to act funky around 10v. There is nothing wrong with one way or the other. You will find many knowledgable people here. Good Luck.

Forget about the nitrous and buy a turbo. Nitrous doesnt work on a VW, right Jeff?
