Trophy Trap won Europe's Most Beautiful VW & Best of Show in 1991, 1st at Bugjam 2011 Nostalgia show & featured on TV this year. Unused & dry stored for 20 years, she remains in staggering concourse show condition and driven on dry days only!

Here are some 'You Tube' links of the car which go some way to highlighting the quality and detail of this beautiful car.

NBE 822M was bought by a familiar name in the Volkswagen circles, Andy Parrott in December 1988 with the intention of a light restoration which developed into a rebuild obsession of unrivalled proportion. Over 2½ years Andy turned the car into an award winning Cal-look showcar which went on to win 16 awards through 1991 including Europe's Most Beautiful VW (Best of Show) at BugJam 1991. It is not surprising she adopted the name ‘Trophy Trap’ and was featured in several magazines back then including Volksworld.

The amount of effort, detail and engineering that Andy ploughed into this car is beyond comprehension and these photos don’t do Andy’s talent justice. From frenched welding, too many handmade billet aluminium components to list, intricate single stranded red piped wiring throughout and a paint job that would rival any modern car – Trophy Trap really is a work of art. She needs to be seen to be fully appreciated.

Trophy Trap was bought from Andy in 1991 when a dedicated garage was built for her. She has remained in dry storage by the present owner, under a blanket and unused for 20 years, other than the occasional turning of the engine once every few years. This year it was decided the time is right for others to enjoy her so she was MOT’d in April - her last MOT expired in 1992, and displayed at Santa Pod, UK. In the last 20 years she’s driven just over 50 dry miles, all this year to the two VW shows at Santa Pod, UK. It goes without saying, she's never been wet.

This year, Trophy Trap won first place and trophies in both nostalgia shows at Bug Jam and VW Action, and also featured on TV this August in the Bug Jam documentary on Eurosport and Motors TV. She's also featured in a double page article in this months (Nov 2011) Volksworld magazine.

A 73 with a flat windshield. These weren't imported to the US where the curved window Super with struts and IRS was the only bug available. What trans is in that model? I've seen a 73 flat window bug with front beam and swing axle trans.

Yes I seem to remember the US had some unique models which were different to European models.  Trophy Trap uses a standard swing axle trans and front torsion beam.

Standard Beetles were imported until 1977 to the states. 78 and 79 were Super Beetle vert only for the states. My club mate has a 77 standard.

I have a '76 standard, beam front and irs rear. 4 x 130 lug pattern like that car, which claims it is a swing axle. Was there a european version 4x130 swing?
