Hi there I have come up with these LED lights for 56-61 bugs with the snowflake pattern in the lens. One of my main motivations in making these was to have brighter and very fast reacting tail lights, but to also make them retain the clean looks of the original snowflake design. I think that I have accomplished that with these lights. I have been running them in my daily driver now for months and they have worked awesome. Not only do these lights work well, but they look good too. This is because they use 53 strategically placed LEDs, there are 2 circuits, one for turn/stop and on for the park lights. The park circuit sits right behind the snowflake and highlights it alone, giving it a cool glowing appearance. The turn/stop circuit consists of 29 LEDs run in 5 vertical rows. These lights are a definite safety upgrade not to mention adding to the cool factor of your early bug. These lights insert in place of the stock dark filter inside of the tail light. As the title states, I build them to run either 6 volt or 12 volt, so the vintage guys can have bright modern lighting as well. The kit comes with everything that you will need to make this an easy swap. The wiring matches stock VW colors to make it simple. One wire(included) will need to be added to to each side to act as a ground. It is long enough to hook to a fender bolt. This will eliminate the notorious snowflake faulty ground issues. I will build these lights to order. Each set is assembled, tested and shipped by me. 12 volt is $115+shipping 6 volt is $140+ shipping I will ship worldwide, shipping charges will vary depending on where you are at. Thanks for looking. Contact me with any questions by PM. Chip Birks

I got my set!!
The pics look great, but still don't do it justice! They're incredible, and are VERY visible at night.

Okay, I would like to order 2 sets. But rather than sending a pm, I figure it would benefit everyone if the question and answer be posted in this thread. What forms of payment do you accept? Paypal?
Also is there any chance of making a set for the heart lights and '55 only egg lights?

Thanks for your interest! Paypal is acceptable, as is a postal money order, sorry that I didn't list it before. A heart is not available at this time. I would like to do it in the future, I just don't have a heart laying around to use for prototyping. I am working on a few designs for other VWs but a heart is not in the works yet. Thanks for asking though. Chip

Now available with weather pack connector for a nice sealed connection to your car. A new tail light harness will come with the connectors. It will reach to the plug near the firewall inside the engine compartment. This way your entire tail light harness will be made of new wire It will come in factory correct colors and will have the ground wire added in to the harness to clean things up a little bit. I'll sell the harness for an additional $25. I'll get up some pics as soon as I can. Chip

I signed for my box the other day. Late last night I tested one set. I will most likely test the other set later today. Looks F***IN' KILLER. My only problem now is I am roughly a year or so away from finishing my '55.

*NOW AVAILABLE!* I have added a new option for those of you who are looking for a fun project, or for those that have more time than money right now. I am willing to sell these LED lights in DIY kit form, 12v only for right now. The kit will include almost everything(boards, LEDs, wire, connectors) that you'll need to build your own set of these lights, including detailed instructions. THIS IS NOT A PROJECT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART. These will require some serious time, and patience to do correctly, although, anyone that can solder, can put a set together.
12 volt kit $40+shipping
