Still more goofy scam e-mails than any interest in the car.  Will try to take some videos and post them here.  I've located a really nice blue 71 BMW in CA - need to sell this car to finance its purchase.

I have two letters from VW Germany regarding the (2) VIN data plates along with every receipt since 1993, Gene Berg instructions for all parts purchased.

Here is the car all covered up on the Battery Tender (rag just removed from exhaust)

Since today was another really nice day, I decided to it out for a spin.  Outside temp. was about 65 degrees and I had just backed the car out of the garage.

Please click on the images below to begin playing.

Another video added from yesterday.  Camera was stuck outside the rear window.

Nice looking car.

The hose that is underneath the tin that attaches to the heaterboxes is that just 2" flexible steel exhaust hose?

Thanks Brandon.  The metal flex hose pieces came from Gene Berg with the merged heater box exhaust system.

I still have the previous exhaust system I removed from the car for sale if you are interested.  (GB-903DP I think) Jet Hot coated header with Eastwood high-temp brush on black paint for the dual mufflers.

Here is an older picture when I was building the engine in the basement of a townhouse back around 1994.  TEN years later, the car was completed after my wife got her Master's degree.

Note the CB "Super case",  GB 69 mm counterweighted crank (8 dowells), GB297/Engle 110 camshaft, double-thrust cam bearings and Brazilian 009 distributor.

Had (1) interested party, but after 3 weeks of back-and-forth communication, they decided not to buy the car.  Very frustrating, as I had to pass on buying a nice BMW in SoCal, flying out there and driving it all the way back to VA.  Would have been a great road trip!

Valves adjusted, fan belt tightened and back under the cover on the Tender.

Price has been lowered to $ 9,500.00.

Here is the speedometer I removed from the car showing the mileage 139,024 when I bought it.

There has been no interest in my car for some reason.  I plan on doing some additional detailing of the floor pan and under the back seat this winter.  I was going to put it on eBay this month but will wait until March to do so.

I would love it if I could afford it.  Good Luck with the sale!

Economy sucks.....  Lower the price, you might get a bite.  Your other option is to wait it out.

Here is an older picture I scanned today.  I got the brand new engine running on May 13, 1998.  Note the still uncoated Berg mufflers temporarily bolted to the coated header, the incorrectly installed rear engine compartment seal, "euro" rear light lenses (from Car Custom) and stock wheels/tires.  I think this was before I installed the rear disc brakes.  The CB Performance Dellorto carb kit was purchased from RTR (Rad Tech Racing/Stephens Machining) in June 1993 for $ 449.18 including shipping.  They had a special on the kits - I believe their ad was on the rear cover of Hot VW's.

This was the garage of my parents house where I stored and worked on it - it was 80 miles from my place.

Car will be put on eBay this weekend.  Entertaining realistic offers if you want it..send me an e-mail.

I've got over $ 15K total invested in parts and the paint job.  Original purchase price and all of my labor isn't factored in (who does that?).

Sale pending to a local guy!   I didn't put it up on eBay due to old title/VIN issues.

Car is actually a 1971 (body VIN tag under the hood matches pan), but the dash tag is from a '72 (hence the '72 title).  PO removed the DOT VIN sticker in the driver's door jamb before he sprayed the car, then sprayed paint on EVERYTHING, including all the tags.   I am working with VA DMV to correct the title before the final sale.
