I was porting a set of cast iron SBC heads with rotary grinder. I had on regular glasses but not safety glasses. A chuck of metal hit the corner of my eye and I rubbed it. I thought I rubbed it out, but I rubbed it into my eye.

My eye hurt like hell for two days, but I couldn’t see anything in my eye, until I looked at the cornea of my eye, I noticed a small black spot.

Went to the eye doctor and he dug it out.  My eye fells much better now that the metal is out.

So just a reminder, glasses are not a replacement for safety glasses.

Amen !   Happy to hear your Doc was able to get the sliver out !

Dave has safety goggles with his lens perscription, only bad thing even coated, they get scratched and have to be replace but it is well worth the money, ya only get two eyes.

Try and take it easy on that eye for awhile ?  That was quite a bit of trauma for it.

Judy, try waxing the lens once a month or so with Plastics wax like "210" or PC window wax. It will greatly help cutting down on scratches and lens replacement bills....

Glad to hear your eye is better.  Keeping your eyeballs working should be at the top of your list next to your hearing!  I remember when I was a kid working with my dad (heavy-equipment mechanic), wearing PPE was looked upon as "sissy".  15 years later, those same guys all wear goggles, ear muffs, and latex gloves when they're around the big aircooled diesel engines.  Of course, they're all friggin' deaf!
