Well, I bring this topic up every year about this time. Who's your team? Did they make the playoffs? Are they going to take it the distance? I'll admit that I'm having a helluva time trying to follow the playoffs with no real TV contracts for the NHL this year. That strike last year was VERY STUPID on the part of the players. They wanted Pro Football, Basketball, and Baseball salaries. Hockey doesn't generate huge money from TV contracts like the other sports do. As much as I love it, hockey still is a backseat to the other 3 sports. I don't get Outdoor Life Network, or TLN, so I'm only able to watch the NBC games. Sucks! GO SABRES! Scott Faivre

Well I grew up a Ranger fan, and was disappointed until 1994! That was a great team! Today... not so much... They got whipped out in 4 by NJ. Anyone who's a true fan of hockey has to be a Montreal Canadien fan just from the history that surrounds that team. So I pull for them. The Sabres are my team because I grew up with their farm team. I played with a couple of the guys that made it to their farm team (Rochester Americans- AHL). When I had my business in NY, we had season tickets to the Americans, and saw a lot of the current Sabres develop their. They won today, they need 1 more to make it to the next round! Anybody see that hit that Mike Madono took today? Ouch! God I miss playing hockey! Scott Faivre

I'm a Flames ticket holder, so I'm hoping for another long play-off run...looking forward to game seven against the Ducks tomorrow night!
I have to say I'm very impressed with the Sabres...we get all the Buffalo games on cable out here!

Hockey blows! Why couldn't they stay on strike? Real men and one woman are getting ready to start next week at the Speedway. The only sport when you go out of bounds.... more than likely you are not going to return.

Sabres are up 3 games to ZIP! `Canes are up 3 games on the Devils, And the Sharks look strong in the west! Could this be the year that Buffalo isn't going to being known as the team that lost the championship game? 90's Buffalo Bills lost 3 Super Bowls (Not that I care - don't really care for NFL. Conklin will tell you that I'm a college football fan! ) 99 Sabres lost in Game 7 to the Dallas Stars on a BS call by the ref when Bret Hull had his foot in the crease! Go Sabres!Scott Faivre

WHAT? No mention of the series win yet? Congrats to the Sabers for knocking out the Sens. Figure out the beer yet? So who's going to win it this year? I think Scott's picking the Sabers. I'd like to see the lone Canadian team win it. Go Oilers!

Okay, so here's my inside story as to why I'm a die hard sabre's fan... Back when I had my business in NY, I had season tickets to the Sabre's farm team in the AHL, the Rochester Americans. The "Amerks" as they are affectionately known, are one of the oldest teams in the AHL and in the USA with teams dating back to the early 1900's. The history is there. Being a guy that grew up playing in the area, every kids' dream was to play for the Amerks someday. Fast forward to 1996, the Amerks won the Calder Cup, the AHL's version of the NHL's Stanley Cup. As an official sponsor of the team with my business, I got to meet a number of the players at social functions, but even better was going to the local pub near the arena and hoisting a few with the boys after a hard fought game. Granted not many of "my guys" are still there, but Martin Biron, Derrik Roy, Brian Campbell, JP Dumont, Dimitri Kalinin, and Jay McKee still are. Although, many former "Amerks" are still in the NHL. I am happy to report that the Sabres are going on to the conference finals and will be well rested when they start up again next Saturday on NBC! Which I will FINALLY BE ABLE TO WATCH! As for the beer, my man Jim has come through for me! Scott Faivre

It will travel between 2 of the final 5 cities: -Buffalo -Raleigh -Anaheim -Edmonton -San Jose Eastern Conference Finals: Buffalo vs Carolina Western Conference Finals: Anaheim vs (winner of Edmonton vs. San Jose) The Stanley Cup is a BEST OF SEVEN SERIES. The BEST team always wins in Hockey. No one game fluke win or loss in hockey. You've got to bring it all for 16 wins to get the Cup! (4 rounds of best of 7 series) GOD I LOVE HOCKEY! Scott Faivre

That would be cool! Michael Peca, who now plays for the Oilers, was the captain for the Sabres in 1999 when they went to Stanley Cup Finals last time. Could be some bad blood for the way he ran his mouth when he left Buffalo. I don't know, maybe I'm just old! Scott Faivre

Well my Sabres, are in a must win situation! They're down 3-2 in a best of 7 series. If they loose tonight, I'll be drinking my Labatt's Maximum Ice that I had imported to drown the pain. If not, I'm going to save it for the finals when we beat Edmonton! GO SABRES! Scott Faivre

Well, my team is out! I knew we were in trouble when I heard Jay McKee (our best defensemen) was out. Out of 8 D-men, we only had 4 regulars and a bunch of rookies. (The rookies played well!) This series was a war of attrition. Carolina stayed healthy and we had (2 forwards out with concusions, 1 Dman with a broken ankle, 1 Dman with a broken arm, 1 Dman with a groin injury, and then McKee with a staff infection in his leg!) I am real proud of the way the Sabres played without a "star" on the team. Each night someone new would step up and be the "star of the evening." I was excited to see the Ex-Rochester Americans do so well and go so far. Buffalo will be back and we have a "brick wall" in net now in Ryan Miller! Congrats to the 'canes, but I'm routing for Edmonton! (Although, Carolina is going to be hard to beat!) Martin, I'll finally be crackin' open the good stuff while I watch the Stanley Cup Finals this Monday. Thank you my Friend! Scott Faivre
