I'm a long time RHCP fan.  I'm stoked about the new double album.
The video for Dani California is awesome!

What do you guys think of it?

Gave it a listen the other night- the first disk is killer, the second sounds more mellow but I haven't given it a full shot yet.  I was rolling on the ground watching the dani california video!

I saw them when I was in college 1992 or 1993?  And I saw them again in 2000 or so for their Californiacation tour.  BOTH SHOWS WERE INCREDIBLE!  But I think I liked the 2nd one better!

Last year the city of Las Vegas hired them to put on a show here for the city's 100th anniversary.  Tickets were free and they were dispensed in minutes.  The mayor got REALLY PISSED when he saw the tickets were then on ebay for as much as $500!!!  Unfortunately, I took the family back east for most of the summer and missed the show.

The closest they're coming to Vegas this year is Glendale AZ.  Sad

They've got a "funky twang" to them that just stirs something inside and makes me nuts! Wink

Saw RHCP on the Californication tour as well. Great show! I wish I would have seen one of their earlier "high flying" shows...

No doubt, I saw the RHCP quite a few times, a couple times with Fishbone back in the early 90's.  A group that will always be doing stuff outside of the norm.  They came out in diapers or depends once when I saw them, pretty freaking wierd!

I gave up on them after "Mothers Milk".

I got into them at "Freaky Stylie" and have been into them ever since.  Never really got into the One Hot Minute album though.

Like most bands, their early stuff is more raw and their later stuff is more refined and polished.  But ya gotta love that funky twang!

always despised them.
Always thought they fell way short behind Jane's Addiction

But now this album changed my mind about them.

Very atmospheric, great guitar texture, songs flow well.

Nice album

Jane's Addiction came AFTER the RHCP! Grin  Never really could get into JA due to the not so melodic screach of their vocals. Wink

As I've gotten older my taste in music has mellowed.  I find myself listening more to their more mellow stuff and singing along rather than rocking out!  Smiley  Songs such as "Soul to Squeeze", "Under the  Bridge", "Scar Tissue", "Zepher Song", etc.  Alright, I admit it, I'm OLD!  Grin

I thought the latest single was a little bland compared to the previous 3 or 4 songs.  I like the vocal styling in Zepher song, that jungle movie song, ect.  They are using the word "California" more often than RATM used the word "radio".  The guitar solo at the end of Dani California is perfect.  It shows the difference between noise and sound that touches your soul.

I have B,S,S,M - Californication and Uplift the Mofo Party Plan, all purchased used.  I think they are a great band but are a little hit and miss.  Uplift is the best album I have and the only one I listen to straight through.  These guys willl be around for a long time and become as iconic as The Who, The Doors, Led Zepplin..............
