Great hearing that there are other Lucinda Williams fans in here.

Also Townes Van Zandt, David Allen Coe  Oh i could go on & on but

you get the drift..Greatest band of all time FLYING BURRITO BROTHERS.

But Scott i have some serious reservations about you and Brittany.

To each his own, rock on bro, oh the bubble gum is in the mail .

If tin whistles are made of tin, What are fog horns made of ?

who sang this little diddy ?

"They're comming to take me away haha, to the funny-farm, where life is beautiful all the time....................they're comming to take me away haha hoho hehe..............."

Napoleon XIV...

Is it wrong that I have that song on my ipod and listen to it at least once every couple of days?  Tongue

Remember when you ran away
And I got on my knees
And begged you not to leave
Because I'd go berserk?
Well. . .

You left me anyhow
And then the days got worse and worse
And now you see I've gone
Completely out of my mind
And. . .

They're coming to take me away, HA HA
They're coming to take me away, HO HO HEE HEE HA HA
To the funny farm
Where life is beautiful all the time
And I'll be happy to see
Those nice, young men
In their clean, white coats
And they're coming to take me away, Ha-haaa!

You thought it was a joke
And so you laughed
You laughed when I had said
That losing you would make me flip my lid
Right. . .

You know you laughed, I heard you laugh
You laughed, you laughed and laughed
And then you left
But now you know I'm utterly mad!
And. . .

They're coming to take me away, HA HA
They're coming to take me away, HO HO HEE HEE HA HA
To the happy home
With trees and flowers and chirping birds
And basket weavers who sit and smile
And twiddle their thumbs and toes
And they're coming to take me away, Ha-haaa!

I cooked your food
I cleaned your house
And this is how you pay me back
For all my kind, unselfish loving deeds?!!
Hah. . .

Well you just wait
They'll find you yet
And when they do they'll
Put you in the ASPCA, you mangy mutt!
And. . .

They're coming to take me away, HA HA
They're coming to take me away, HO HO HEE HEE HA HA
To the funny farm
Where life is beautiful all the time
And I'll be happy to see
Those nice, young men
In their clean, white coats
And they're coming to take me away, Ha-haaa!

To the happy home
With trees and flowers and chirping birds
And basket weavers who sit and smile
And twiddle their thumbs and toes
And they're coming to take me away, Ha-haaa!

To the funny farm
Where life is beautiful all the time
And I'll be happy to see
Those nice, young men
In their clean, white coats
And they're coming to take me away, Ha-haaa!

'nother masterpiece from Roger Waters:

Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Now there's a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
You were caught on the crossfire of childhood and stardom,
blown on the steel breeze.
Come on you target for faraway laughter,
come on you stranger, you legend, you martyr, and shine!
You reached for the secret too soon, you cried for the moon.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Threatened by shadows at night, and exposed in the light.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Well you wore out your welcome with random precision,
rode on the steel breeze.
Come on you raver, you seer of visions,
come on you painter, you piper, you prisoner, and shine!

yep....David Gilmour. Not a very good lyric composer, but one heck of a guitarist. Dare I say, one of the best?

One of the best sets of lyrics is in "29x The Pain" by The Wildhearts. It was a B-side to a single, but has become one of their most popular songs, name-checking as many of the bands influences as possible.

"Here, sitting in my room,
With the Replacements and Husker Du
Like a rebel without a clue
And the Beatles and the Stones
Get to hang out with Ramones
And the Pistols shot in fame
As they sing the old refrain
Like they always will again
Like 29 times the pain

I see Starz
And the moon is Big and Black
It's a full Sheer Heart Attack
And the Cheapest Trick of all
Is when I here that London Call
I need something and I need it fast
I need Jason Scorching past
I need to know they feel the same
Cos when they almost know my name
It's like 29 times the pain
Times the pain
And it all ends up the same

Kiss my Heart
like the Damned did from the start
Come on make me feel like me
SLF and BOC
Give me old, give me new,
Let me know you feel it too
To the sound of Twisted Girls
There's a brave new world oh
How, how can I get down?
When I've got all my friends around
I want to be here once again
I'm gonna miss Kurt Cobain
Like 29 times the Pain"

Mike Ness from Social Distortion, so much angst in his voice that you know he's experienced what he sings.

Bad Luck
Back Street Girl
Sick Boy
Prison Bound
When the angel sings
Story of my life
Dont take me for granted
Making Believe

list goes on
