WOW! That sucker is very accurate! (at was for me, anyway). I've taken a few of those similar polls, and they've been off. But that one was SPOT ON, all the way through the entire list of candidates (or the ones I know alot about, anyway). It nailed my 1st thru 8th choices, just as I would list them myself with exception to Tancredo and McCain... just need to swap their spots and everything else came out dead-nuts. Great link, Scott!

#1. Fred Thompson

#2. Duncan Hunter

#3. John McCain

#4. Tom Tancredo

#5. Mitt Romney

#6. Mike Huckabee

#7. Rudy Giuliani

#8. Ron Paul

I won't bother listing the Democrat results, other than to note Hillary came in second to last just above Joe Biden. Wink

I was a little surprised. Mitt Romney #1? I couldn't see voting for a Mormon. They have fantastic family values but ludicrous ideology.

How can you say that Mormons have a ludicrous Ideaology.  Thats a pretty ignorant statement.  What do you know about Mormonism?   Examples please.

I work for a Mormon owned company and my girlfriends best friends are all Mormons. Maybe ludicrous was a little harsh. Mormon beliefs do not match my Christian upbringing. The Mormon bible is not the same as a Christian Bible. I applaud their family values but their view of Christ is different than mine.

Well I am Mormon.   And thanx for your rebuttal.   Mormons idealogically have the same basic values as all Christian religions.   And to clarify the Bible thing, I am no expert, but I believe there are 2 versions of the Bible and Mormons dont have their own version.   Im not here to get into a big religious debate or anything,  just defending what I thought was an ignorant statement.  Oh and Please dont take that YouTube Video seriously, what a load of crap.  I dont know what religion they are talking about there but it certainly isnt Mormonism. Peace Roger.

There seems to be alot of "controversey" lately regarding Romney's Mormon faith..... and I really don't get it. While I don't particularly agree with the Mormon doctrine, whether or not the President is a Mormon doesn't bother me one bit. I know alot of Mormon folks, even worked for some, and they're every bit as good Americans as any Christian. The reasons I dislike Romney have absolutely nothing to do with his faith, just as my opinions of Clinton and Obama have nothing to do with their gender or skin color. Its all media garbage.

I've tried debating examples like the video and countless books with my Mormon co-workers and they do not defend or deny any of the points in the video. Most are ignorant of Mormon history. Our inspector is a Mormon elder and he had no knowledge of The Mountain Meadow Massacre http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mormon_massacre or other controversial events in the Mormon past.

Hunter followed by Tankredo, Huckabee, and Thompson (all three closely grouped)...I heard Huckabee describe a plan for doing away with income tax and replacing it with a tax based on consumption.  Doing away with income tax would just about earn him my vote!!  I don't have time to get into it, but he made some great arguments for it.

Madoski, look into Thompson's "White Papers", he has already released a tax plan long before any of these other guys-- Thompson's plan includes a flat tax if you choose it, or go the traditional way if you'd rather. In fact, Thompson is the only candidate who has released very detailed plans on several issues, detailed plans that will actually work and have an actual shot at going into effect, but the media completely ignores him. Huckabee is a complete disaster, his past FULL of mistakes, his own state of Arkansas can't stand him, his "plans" require way more than will ever be realistic, and he recently more-or-less stole Thompson's immigration plan. The Huckster has a few great talking points, but very little of it has any chance at ever becoming reality. The guy is a total mess, which is why the media loves him. Give Thompson an honest look...

www.fred08.com

The media has nothing on Thompson, nothing controversial, he has nothing in his past he needs to cover for, he never flip-flops, and he's by far the most solid, consistent conservative in the race. This is not the kind of stuff that gets media coverage. The media ignores those whom they most fear, and that guy is Thompson. But do some online research, you'll find all you need to know, the REAL truth, about all these guys. You'll also see why I'm for Thompson. The Huckster doesn't stand a chance against Hillary, which is why they're touting him so much. Build him up now, and utterly obliterate him when the primaries are over. If you look around alittle, you'll see just how busy the "lazy" Senator Thompson has been.

Oh man, that video is up in the night! I'm not Mormon but have lived in Utah my whole life. None of that BS sounded familair so I had my Mormon wife watch it. She's astonished that something like that was published. She has studied the BOM growing up and the whole video is fabricated. I don't know what that video was made for, or the purpose of it, but it is NOT accurate of mormonism.

I've known countless mormon families my entire life (obviously living here) and they are all great people. I am not mormon, my wife is, and the mormon church is fine with that. They are very respectful of us. Granted, like any other religion there are the fanatics like the fundimentalists that Warren Jeffs came from, but groups like that are not approved of by the LDS church.

Wether Mitt Romney is Mormon or not should definitly NOT be an issue. That video was insulting to me, and i'm not even Mormon!

Just tells me the whole "Dem vs. Rep" thing needs to go. I can see good and bad with both parties.

But no, if your republican, you have to hate the dem's, and vice versa.

Get rid of the "teams" and see what happens.

Yes, thats all I meant-- two very different thoughts on political issues, I would suppose. Fred Thompson is, as far as I'm concerned, the best candidate we conservatives have had the opportunity to vote for since Reagan. If Thompson is the nominee, for the first time in my legal capacity to vote (age), will I be voting FOR someone instead of voting against  the other guy. Based on my thoughts and my overall view of American conservatism, Thompson is by far the concrete consistent candidate--- and believe me, I've done my research. Wink

Haven't even begun to make up my mind yet although I almost always vote to the right of most.  As for the "mormon" issue I have a little first hand experience as well.

First thing, I lived in Salt Lake City 15 years growing up as a "non" mormon.  I always found the mormon people of Utah to believe in (1) God (2) Family & (3) Country. Over all, darn good folks even if our paths to faith are a little different.

Secondly I'm old enough to remember debates over how terrable it might be if a catholic became president!! (Remember J.F.K.?)  People were saying then that if a catholic were president he'd be taking orders from the Pope!   What ever you think of J.F.K. (this conservitive liked him) NO-body to my knowledege has claimed he was not his own man............................

As Fred Thompson and Hillary Clinton were walking down the street, they came upon a homeless person.

The Republican, Fred Thompson, gave the homeless person his business card and told him to come to his office for a job. He then took $20 out of his pocket and gave it to the homeless person.

Hillary was very impressed, so when they came to another homeless person, she decided to help. She walked over to the homeless person and gave him directions to the welfare office. She then reached into Thompson’s pocket and got out $20. Hillary kept $15 for her administrative fees…. and gave the homeless person $5.
