I'm not the kinda guy that needs a huge, honkin' stereo in my car. The last couple of aftermarket stereos I ran were a high powered deck (35-45W x 4) and four decent speakers. That gives me MORE than enough volume and sound quality.
My 1970 is ALL stock inside, including the Sapphire AM radio with one speaker, which works just great, thank you (see pic).
However....I'm getting sick of right wing talk radio (two stations) and a Latin music station that only half-ass comes in. Ideally, I'd like to find a period FM radio so I could run a second rear speaker (which was a factory option) and then maybe hide an XM or Sirius reciever.
Where's a good place to find a period VW radio? Something the dealer or factory would've used? How much can I expect to pay?
Does anyone know if a modern aftermarket stereo would fit in the dash without cutting it up?
I'm not too crazy about putting a radio in the glovebox. It's either the stock deal with satellite or full aftermarket.
