Look at a friends car for me I would appreciate it.  It is a 1990 Olds 88 Royal it has a 3.8 6 in it. She has been told that the harmonic balancer is coming off.  And that it will set her back some 600 to 800 bucks she is trying to get back on her feet.  I'm hoping to find  someone to look at it for her to see if we can get away with put a used one on it if possible to get her by for a while not sure if possible?  Never touch one of these motors.  So if you have or have an idea live in the area or know about the subject PLEASE email me at myleslsiglin@yahoo.com I'll get you my cell number so we can talk about working it out.  Please let me know I would appreciate it very much.  I won't be able to make it back there for another month until Father's day weekend to do it myself.  So I'm trying to find someone to help me out before I get back.

 I have replaced those balancers before. Advance auto has them in the Dorman brand for around $60-75. We have replaced them for under $200.00 parts and labor. $600-800 is rediculous. She is probably being taken advantage of because she is a woman, my wife has been though the same stuff years ago. They need to look for another mechanic. If I was in Michigan,I would help them out.
