My name is Herbert Barber.  We are a VW family to the core.  We just had to sell our beloved 68 Bug to pay bills and have had to put on hold the 78 Bus we were going to restore for my 17 year old daughter.  I am writing due to having no where else to turn. I am told by county agencies they cant help me because I have insurance through my job, and I cant leave my job for that exact reason as well. My 17 year old daughter is now on hemodialysis 3 times a week. She is taking alot of medications and has numerous appointment in Sacramento and San Fransisco. I work for a local newspaper as a marketing rep. It is a great job and a great company. The problem is my account base is Real Estate and Automotive Dealers. I am a commissioned rep so with these industries going in the tank I have lost all my commissions and am living off $400.00 every two weeks. I cant leave my job to find a new one because if I do I will have a break in my insurance and my daughter who is on the waiting list for her transplant will be removed and have to start over. I have had some great job offers over the last few months the problem is the 3 to 6 month wait for insurance. There fore I am stuck where I am at. When the economy turn around I am in an excellent career. I just have to wait for the end of the rainbow. Just this week we have had to go to the food bank twice, seek help through the salvation army with our power bill, and put our farm animals on Craigslist because I cant feed them and my kids at the same time. I have attached a link to a news article so you know I am not scamming you on my daughters condition. It is hard for me to even post this, I have so much pride, I know in my heart that there are people out there that can help. Up until the other day I didnt know what in the world to do I was afraid to post something on the net asking for help because of the weirdo's out there and I have no real outlets locally to help either. So I am going to give this a try. I dont know how we are going to survive the next 6 months. I am scrambling to make ends meet. Selling everything in the garage, working extra hours just to try to find new prospects for my account base, but none of it is panning out. I am days from the streets with my family. We dont have the option of showing up at our families doors to stay temporarily and any change in our current living situation would raise flags with the screening board for my daughter transplant. So it is with my head bowed and humbled that I ask for your help. I really dont know what else to do. Well I will close now and feel free to ask what ever you want I am very open. Thank you and God Bless.

My kidney is going to my daughter.  She is in the final stages of her work up for transplant and them the surgery happens.  She turns 18 tomorrow and we hope the surgery will be soon so we can get her off dialysis and starting on her adult life.
