When my great grandparents came here from Sweden, they spent a lot of time, effort, and money to become American citizens. They embraced America and while they did live in a predominantly Swedish neighborhood, it was the United States Army my grandfather joined, it was the American flag hanging out in front of their house, and they learned English with a LOT less help than is available today. And yes I am sure when the sung the anthem it was in English not Swedish. I have a very large problem with people coming here and wanting to not only keep their country's traditions within their homes but to force ME and everyone else to look at it and hear it. How come I don't see billboard ads in Swedish? German? Danish?  I do not consider myself racist or sexist at all-I have friends who are white, hispanic, black, asian, gay, straight, and so on-my brother's girlfriend has been here after coming from Puerto Rico and I consider her my family. But watching people running around waving Mexican flags and seeing all of the ads and signs in Spanish and calling information and having to wait through the Spanish language option is making me pretty resentful.

Another thought that is funny is the  fact that soooo many families in Mexico as well as other countries wouldn't even be able to exist if it weren't for the United States. One would think these people would LOVE and embrace the USA

I see a bunch of people saying I'm missing something. If you look at the very first thing I posted in this thread, you'll see I was asking a question because I didn't understand what exactly was being debated. To be honest I still don't. Are you saying that if you hear some dude singing the spanish Star Spangled Banner in the shower you want to deport him? Because if so, then thats unamerican, in my book.

Yes , you are missing something , the Star Spangled Banner being RE-written and sung in spanish is , well , simply put , UN-AMERICAN
The Star Spangled Banner in Spanish and ILLEGAL immigration go hand in hand
When all the protests started , they were waiving MEXICO'S Flag , then someone told them to waive the American Flag to LOOK like they were Patriotic and care about this country and people like you could feel all warm and fuzzy about all the poor ILLEGALS that are stealing jobs and tax payers money through social services .
Now theres the Spanish version of the Star Spangled Banner , for the exact same reason , to make you feel all warm and fuzzy .

In MY opinion the song in Spanish is Wrong and totally "Un-American" , and the fact that our goverment , be it , Dem or Rep , over the years has turned a blind eye to the problem of illegal immigration into our Country , from ANY other Country is also "Un-American"

Darn, I heard another version of it the other day... started something like this...

"Jose, can you see?
There's the INS Light...
In the sewer we'll hide,
and we'll try again tomorrow night..."
