How many CLF members are musicians? Erik, you mentioned that you played the drums, that just made me curious as to how many in the ACVW community were musicians, had bands, and what kind. I'm a guitarist first I guess, been playing forever. I'm just getting started in drag racing with my V-dub at my local track. If any one is interested I have some of my music on the dreaded myspace.com/gorbymusic. Thers a pic of my bug on there to. I finally gave in to the myspace craze.  Thanks everyone!

I guess I consider myself to be a "recreational" bass player.  Just started playing out again after a few slow years, a good friend of mine is doing accoustic gigs and I've been playing along.

My brother is a guitar picker in Nashville, he just got off the road with Van Zant.  Really awesome gig, he was even in the video for their second single.

There's 1352 guitar pickers in Nashville...And every that unpacks his guitar can play twice as better than I will.

I'm just a weenie that plays the Ukulele.... Roll Eyes so far got 6 ukes, with 2 more being custom built for me at this moment. Just my other obsession right behind hot aircooled VW's. It's a thing I did since a youth and nowadays just jam with my 13 yr old son.. something we can both do together (kids learn fast..). We worked out a few instrumental duets and play them at his school events etc. uke's only 4 strings, well, I do have a 6-string uke too. "failed" Guitarist I am... Grin

Nothing wrong with that.  I have a tenor banjo that I'm struggling with.  Looking to get a cheap mandolin sooner or later.

Play the Uke 'til you puke!

Mine is rather old as well.  Its a Silvertone, so that puts it back maybe into the 60s?

Been playing drums since I was 8 years old.  Took lessons for a couple of years but it's mostly natural.  Did all the standard percussion/marching band/jazz ensemble stuff through high school and had a couple of bands there too.  Started playing in a gigging rock/punk group in college playing parties and clubs, built up a pretty damned good local following over a few years and got a brief mention in Rolling Stone Magazine in 2004.  Became a local celeb for a while and played some great shows and then the band fell apart a year later.  Big buildup and then a letdown, oh well.  Still playing pretty regularly but have given up the rock star aspriations.  Besides VWs, vintage drums are my other hobby - I have a couple of late '60's 3-ply Ludwig kits and an early 70's Zickos clear acrylic.  Ludwigs and Paiste all the way.

Have some guitars too - Gibson Les Paul, couple of Fender basses, and a '75 Gibson Ripper bass.  Various 60's/70's Sunn amps.

LOL Brian, that's a little more vintage than most!

There's two drum sets at my parents' house I'd like to fix up someday if I ever get the space, one is a Deka I bought from a neighbor many years ago, and the other is my uncle's "______", you know I can't remember if it is a Ludwig, Pearl, or what?  He bought it around 1967.

I love talking old gear.

I've played guitar on and off for the last 15 years. Since I split from my girlfriend earlier this year I threw myself into guitars again, and pieced together a set neck Gibson SG copy, which I'm refinishing in Polaris white, with the chrome hardware, a candy red Strat (Jap Squier body and electrics, Chinese Squier large headstock neck), and a replica of the Hendrix/Zappa Strat, the one with the burned sunburst body, LH maple neck, tortoiseshell pickguard, gold hardware, Fender USA electrics, etc. It's not looking rough enough yet - need to get the blowtorch on it at the weekend and burn it some more!
On top of that lot I've got a Les Paul copy, a couple of basses, an old acoustic my mum bought in the '60's, and a superstrat i built from scratch when I was 18.

I've played bass since I was 11, played in a couple of small bar bands here and there.  I mainly just do it for recreation and fun.  I got a couple of Fender Basses, a old Washburn, a crappy acoustic guitar (that I don't mind taking out to camp and jamming with) and a some vintage Marshall amps.  Nice to know there are some other guys that jam on the forum.

Lets get a band going..lol
