Oh man, I have an extention cord story!  When I was in the Air Force, I had to work with this dumb kid who knew absolutely NOTHING about metal fabrication.  One day we had to go to a job site, and I told him to bring his extention cord.  When we got there, I went to plug in my drill, and he gave me an extention cord that was 18" long.  I asked him WHY did he make an extention cord that was only 18" long???  He explained that he had to drill something on the bench, but the drill cord wouldn't quite reach the outlet, so he took a measurement and found he only needed 18"....

Extension cord stories:

I just bought a high $, HD, Graingers 100' cord for use at Irwindale Speedway Oval track. First race, I got pitted next to a Legends car (5/8's scale 50's race car with a motorcycle engine) but this guy took up 2 pit stalls with a RV and a tent.

I had to run my new cord over his path to the power box.

They ran their race just before ours.

After my race, I went to my pit to find they were gone and my new, high $ cord was cut into 2x pieces and sparking away!

I went ahead and bought that nights race tape to pick his car out as he was crashed out early, dragging suspension parts and when he drove across my cord to cut it!

It took a few races to talk the guy into replacing it (I had to fax him a copy of the dated reciept and hassle him awhile) and now I have a HD 100' and 2x 50' ers.......
