I'm sick of everything being censored or deleted over minor stuff, its rediculous. maybe if we make it a pay service we can all decide to let anything fly, the way it SHOULD be.

All you get now is people playing favorites. mods deciding which completely unrelated stuff can stay in this section and whos stuff gets moved. its rediculous.

We are all adults, why does it hurt us to find out about a bad product or hearing two sides to an arguement??? ...and then maybe we wont get these LAME @SS people coming on with a new screen name to fight with, what a bunch of b!tch sh!t...QUIT HIDING

LOL, couldn't agree more we're all adults.  If there is a bad product or problems with one out there i want to know about it!!!  How about having a parts review forum or rant's n rave's.  I can't believe how many threads disappear here.

Even the Samba Rants has it's limits.

Andy... a website only costs a few hundred dollars a year and PHP software is free. So why not start your own?

Very quickly you will find that you can not have unlimited posting.

Been there, done that.

Ah... so it's not anything goes.

Same as with Freedom of Speech. It doesn't say you can say anything. Hate speech is not protected.

99.99% of the time the forum and many of the others work very well. But there are limits and you have to respect the people who run these site for what they do allow.

Tell me.. i'm  the moderator on the high performance forum on the Samba. There's nothing like getting in the middle of a John C., Jake Raby and Danimal rant. Been there, done that and it's not pleasant. They're all great guys but they have very strong opinions and egos.

I reckon if nobody wanted to read that kind of stuff, they wouldn't look at it and they certainly wouldn't contribute to to it. Intersting huh?

sorry, but the owners of the site have every right to moderate anything they wish.   it's their site and we get to or not to use it.

I think they do a fine job of moderating this site. Those who are complaining, consider the possibility that what you said was "out of line" and that's why it was moved, locked or deleted. I give Andrew full credit for signing his name to everything he says. If you won't sign your name to something then you really shouldn't be saying it ! wayne

There is nothing wrong with letting everyone know about issues with a product. After all the VW community we are in is supposed to be about helping one another out right??

My first thought/opinion is this:  The owners of this great source have it set up the way they want it.  If you don't like it, no one's making you join in.  You can always start your own thing, and run how you want.  As the old saying goes:  It's my house, you don't like it?  Get the F**K out!  Joking of course, but you get the idea.

What the heck are you talking about? This is oneof the most civil, adult sites I frequent.
And YOU are one of the long time contributors! I appreciate your opinion and everyone else's. I'm smart enough and adult enough to sort through the rabble....as are 95% of the rest of the clientel here.

There is alot of ways to look at this, first, I feel that this site is one of the greatest sites for us VW lovers, but secound, I think 2stroke is also right. Too much policing. If we want to say what and where, then lets have a seperate Tab, and all of us support it, pay a monthly fee, yearly what ever. But third, like what was said, if ya don't like it, look at another post! We are all adults, I hope, and act as such. We can all make decisions to what we want to say, hear, read, and so on. So why not just let us say what we feel. Grant it, post some kind of rules to follow, and as adults, make the right decisions on what to post. Make sense? If ya can't make the right adult decisions, then you should NOT be here. My two cents.

Gonna hafta mostly agree with Andy on this one, too much thread-locking and censoring. Sometimes I can understand it, but not usually.

How about keeping the forum Cal-look VW only and get rid of the other BS... If it isn't related material, it stays out.... Open forums get out of hand, like the off topic side of this one and the Rant of the Samba.... If you want it your way then do it yourself.... To go onto someone elses creation and bitch is "CHILDISH"...... Leave it alone....

Why not just make a Rants section on here. If you wanna open it and view everyone's bickering, then do it. If not, stay away and read about someones cam selection or jet recomendations the whole time. I don't see the big deal.

Why not start a "cal-bitch" forum. That way I can stay here and communicate with people I haven't seen here for ages, or talk about things that pertain to the majority (rather than the few who just like to hear/see themselves talk!).

This is an unfortunate fact, one which would likely be a factor in some people's--myself included--decision to leave the scene altogether and say, "screw it," if it weren't for the fact that in every hobby the bitching and arguing is a part of the game.  I don't know why it's so prominent in the car hobby, but I see it in every camp.

Maybe I'll research a book on "Automotive Hobbyist Psychology." I could  write it Dave Barry-style, I'm sure it would be a bestseller! Grin

Do you know how many people were logged on while they (Serrano and CB) were going back and forth?  It was up to 58 people.  I have never seen that many people logged onto the CLF before.  Unfortunately, it is entertaining for some, but not all.

We are all adults and are not forced to read what people post.

It's odd.......It's like a car accident; Curiousity gets the best of you.  You don't want to look, but you do anyways.  I think most people were just trying to see what/how it would be handled.  Typically, if I have nothing nice to say, I won't say anything at all.  At the same time, I'm opinionated, and I like to voice it.  Keeping my mouth under control seems to be a full time job LOL.   Grin
