From what I can tell the rustier the better. Throw some nice rims on it, drop it and roll it.  I am not an expert though?

Donk= I have no idea but apears to be any full size car with a body or suspention lift to allow the use of large wheels, sometimes more than what is required.  I'm guessing that you have seen DONK magazine on the stands.

Box='80's square body Caprice

Bubble='90's rounded body Caprice

Dont know about hoodie but a hoopdy is a older car in poor condition with accesories that exceed the value of the car.

When I was a little guy, I used to go to the little town just north of Monterey, CA just outside of Fort Ord called Marina. Marina had sand dunes along the beach that was an offroad vehicle park of sorts.

I'll never forget one day these hippies that were hood ridin' behind a sandrail. They tied a rope to the front latch mechanism or an old early 50's American car hood, and the long-hair's would take turns getting towed all over the dunes, jumps bumps, and spills! It was more fun than watching a schizophrenic try to put on a reversable jacket  Grin

^^I don't mind when the cars aren't crusty and rusted out with holes all over, but lowerd with extreme rear camber is fugly, IMO, not to mention the waste of a car.  It's a 20 years and under thing for the kids, I guess.

I am 20 and I think thae camber looks stupid as well... I like the Idea of the car a little lower to the ground so It handles better but I only plan on lowering the front of my beetle. I am hoping to get rid of the rust as well. First I have to get my wiring figured out, maybee I will break down and buy a wiring harness

I'll agree with that, although I think patina is becoming kind of an excessive bandwagon thing these days.  Commercial buses I dig, as those have a visible history and even the Bugs, Ghias, etc, to an extent, although too MUCH patina just makes it look like a ratty old car, IMO.  Fake patina, ala the well-publicized photos that have circulated on the Samba of guys beating the hell out of or pissing on a car is just retarded.

I like lowered Vdubs, but slammed on the pavement cars just bring back too many memories of crap pile '80s cars from Oregon that were abused and ultimately crushed.  Even if they don't get hammered on by the driver, they still see a lot faster wear and tear from being that low to the ground.

Hi volksguy,

Actually it was, as you refer to them as "you old farts", that originally tagged the phrase "slammed" as well as dumped, hung, raked, dropped, blah, blah, blah.   And a bit of trivia, more youngsters are known to voluntarily, rudely expell gas than the elderly.  It's evidently a current no respect thing ?

Your car is lookin good if that is what makes you proud to be seen in and for what it's worth to you, I'm proud of you for standing up for what you like.  Just not my/our deal.

I did catch the VolksBash interview with Dope Beat Derrick (I'm not going to even try and spell his last name without knowing how lol) and I can say I have a certain amount of respect for the philosophy they're trying to instill in VW owners whose cars aren't "pristine."   The super lowness and stencils aren't really my thing, but hearing a guy articulate his interest in the VW scene makes a huge difference.  Good job, Ray, enjoying the show!  Keep the interviews coming.  Grin

^^Don't forget axle/wheel bearing wear due to starving them from the gear oil that is distributed throught the axle tube.  Changing that axle angle causes a lot more problems than just "looking squatty." Grin

Look in the For Sale area for the DVD's.  They have video clips of donks driving & racing!

Acording to Lowrider Magazine(p174 June '06) a "donk" is a 71-76 Impala or Caprice, a "box" is a 77-92(I think the end year is wrong) and a "bubble" is untill the end of the RWD GM cars.
