My pals and I spent three of the best days of our lives on the road in Sept of 2004, covering 1300 miles in California.

Time to do it again!

The snow should be melting nicely up near the Kern River, up near Camp Nelson, Johnsondale, and Avenue of the Giants. There are some awesome sports car roads up there, begging to be driven. Also, the run up highway 49 from Oakhurst all the way to Sierraville, north of Tahoe. We did the drive that weekend in less than 5 hours (yeah...definite candidates for tickets).
Also, northwest corner of CA, Route 36 from I-5, all the way (125 miles) west to 101, no better road to enjoy a good car on....

You have any road trips planned in the Golden State this year? Grin

Did you see the movie Sideways.  If you did I can highly reccomend the Solvang, Santa Ynez, central coast area.

yeah, it's funny....my wife and I used to meet on the weekends in San Luis Obispo when i was still living in N California, and she lived in LA. Anyway, we'd spend a lot of time throught that area. And one night, after driving around out there, we drove up to SLO one night, and decided to see that film, not knowing anything about it. It was cool seeing a movie take place in the area we were in just hours before.
Cool movie...loved it.

* sigh *

And all I'm hoping for these days is to get to go into town to see Ice Age, The MeltDown.  I should have married for money....

Way years back my sister and I took our '63 bus and drove from LA up to Carmel, etc.  Camped and got stuck on Pismo Beach, had to wait until tide went out to get out and then on up to Tassajara, the Budhist retreat.  It was beautiful and so peaceful up there.  No one told us the one way dirt road up/down could not be  transversed by the average car that they had to come down and transport you up in their Jeep for retreat.

Dave had a 2180 (whoa, look out), with a stock cam, single 32 NDIX for towing "The Ghia" with an Alpine reduction gear box in our '63 Westy so we chugged right on up. The look on those people's face when we got to the top of the mountain was incredible.  Also going up the Grape Vine to March Meet, towing, we passed most other cars towing with this engine, tranny.  It was a wheel stander to the other side of the intersection but a real dog beyond that if not towing.  Sorry for pirating this thread,  traveling, when we did/could was great fun.  Any traveling this Summer,  have a great trip !  I envy you she said stuck here in our engine building, critter caring for World.  * sigh *

well to be honest with you, I'd really dig some "down time" setting some cam timing and bottle feeding some raccoons.

PS: Theodore is doing well. Felidae wet food helps a lot.

I hope you realize at times this is all done at the same time ?  If that is acceptable...come on back !

THAT is great news !  So very glad to hear that !    Grin
