From the Hartford Currant: http://articles.courant.com/2009-04-03/news/west_hartford-_rolls_royce-m.artfriday_1_new-museum-distinctive-car-rolls-royce-foundation"Mr. Swift's Gift Goes To Springfield Industrial Museum April 03, 2009|By BILL LEUKHARDT, bleukhardt@courant.comWEST HARTFORD — For nearly eight decades, M. Allen Swift drove arguably the most distinctive car in town - a two-tone green 1928 Rolls-Royce that he received new as a graduation gift. He only stopped driving it shortly before his death in October 2005 at 102, but not before he made sure to preserve his beloved Phantom I roadster with 170,000 miles on it and an engine that still purrs like a sewing machine. In October, the car will go on display in Springfield in a new industrial heritage museum made possible in part by a $1 million bequest from Swift."

Only 36 years for me, but give me time. I don't plan on selling it anytime soon.
Oh... mine has 472,000 on it.

Two of his grandsons work with us. He apparently made his money processing gold into gold leaf- or so the story goes.

I own my 74 Callook bug since 1988, and I'm not planning to sell it at all ! Running a clean 14.9 ET with the 1776 on 48 IDA's on racing Weekends, and using it to go to work in summer ...great !

Bought my first car('67 beetle) when I was in middle school. I still have it today. So that would make it, just over 22 years. Over the years I had many people come over wanting to purchase it, especially when I was away in the military. I actually wanted to sell it at that time but no one could come up with what I was asking. Luckily I didn't sell it. I am sure this particular car will be the last one I will ever own.

It was May 12, 1971 that I purchased my green car. It was white at the time. Change to green in 1974 or 5. I had wrecked my 61 when a woman cut in front of me and took off the front end. I found my 64 at a used car dealership in Santa Ana, California. It is still there by the way, cornor of Main and Warner streets. Cost $600. In the glove box was all the paper work of when it was first brought into the country and the dealership it was first sold at. It was imported through Competition Motors and sold at Lakewood Motors. I still have all the papers and owners manual from when it was new. For 39 years it has been a work in progress and thanks to everyone for their support and help. Dave Rhoads

Hi Dave , I fully agree with Jgerock . That car is one of the first cars that caught the eye in mags and Keith's Callook 'bible' ! Just keep it that way ! Greetz - Marc
