I was putting the motor in a freinds 70 Bug that i built over two years ago(he had the car on back burner for a while) and he did not have the upper doghouse exhaust duct.I only had one thats for another car i am working on.We were making pretty good progress and did not want to order something monday and have to wait several days.He said can't ya just make one...Hum...
So I got out some 26 guage sheetmetal and went to work, bent it on my 4 foot brake, some pop rivets, even the curved piece at the bottom is there...
What ya think?   Grin

Its a 1641 with a CB cheater Cam...might be able to test drive tomorrow...

I normally wouldn't say this....but that car needs a chrome firewall! That piece actually looks really good, it's a shame you can't see it

ha...you guys! He did have a rubber like material firewall he got from JC Whitney and i said you don't want that...it will get flimsey when it gets 100 degree's this summer and fall down and block your cooling intake...said besides its 'In" to have bare firewall anyway. This guy has not been into Bugs since the family had a 79 SB vert back in the 80's or so...I keep hurting his feelings with some of the parts he gathered...like man that is junk...thats the crapiest
part i ever seen...one example was the "new" early tail light assemblies he bought...pure crap. I found some good OEM bulb receptacle pieces...and got them working.Another is the hub caps do not fit the Chinese made chrome wheels...i bent one up real good trying to get it on...No more Mangels...Anyway he is finding out the pains we all know from our experiences that there is junky replacement parts out there and nothing fits right and you have to like GBE says..."Cry Once" on your parts...not buy the cheapest stuff ya can find online etc.
I think it will be a fun driver and provide some ACVW love for some time. 'D

Nice work!
Thanks! This car was painted by a local shop with a polyeurothane and he needs to take it over now that it drives and get buffed out.He has mexican front bumper with turn signals in it, stock rear bumper. We will put them on after buff out.I should of got a picture of the under side of motor, it has a Bugpack ceramic coated header, hide a way muffler, full flow, i made my own steel braided hose's and XRP fittings. Not a show car but a fun driver.
