My wife had an '06. Fun car, horrible mileage. She traded it in for a mini van because it got better mileage and could carry more.

Sorry, that's not a Mini Cooper. That's a BMW trading on our heritage.

Interesting on the mileage point. My wife does most of the driving on ours, and she has a LEAD foot, and it gets good mileage. Was yours an S?

Agreed on the room issue (at least with the convertibles), as the trunk has just enough room for to pack a credit card.

I have a Cooper D -09, it gets pretty good mileage being diesel and all, i think i get just shy of 50mpg under mixed driving conditions, not just highway, but city driving as well. They are very fun to drive, almost go-kart like with the wheels right at the corners. Not the most practical though, but perfect as a second car. They are quite pricey compared to other cars of a similar size, but so far i am impressed with the quality.

I opted for the Sport suspension and sport seats, basically the same spec as the S version except for the engine, and most all the extras you could get for it as well.

Regards

No, it was the standard model with a 5 speed. My wife has a lead foot too, but she would only get about 22-24MPG combined city and highway. Her Town and Country gets about the same but we can put the kids and dog in the back  Grin

John, back in 2004 my mom was wanting a new car, something fun to drive rather than her benz
she told me she thought the mini's were cute. her and my dad came up to visit and I told her let's go check them out
we went to the dealer and she test drove one and ordered one.
70+ years young says it's a blast to drive!
she especially likes it when she says someone younger (twenties, thirities) ask her if that's really her car

My wife and I had a Mini back in 2005. Ours was Chili Red with White Bonnet Stripes and WHite Wheels.  We loved it.  It was the Supercharged model and it drove like it was on rails! Quick too!  We ended up trading it for a Scion XB because our daughter was 12 at the time and we were hauling her and her friends around.  Two adults, two kids and groceries don't fit in a Mini,LOL! We did love that car though. I wanted to tune it up a bit before I got rid of it and did'nt have the time.

The great thing about the car is that it actually makes commuting tolerable. Almost every day we drive it, one of us says, "I love this car!"

We're averaging 32 MPG, and that's with a lot of stop and go traffic and my lead foot wife doing most of the driving. Not bad.

Corny - you KNOW that you want to get one for Melissa when the Audi dies (a second time  Roll Eyes

I'm beginning to hot rod it a bit, but will keep it modest; I'd rather keep those funds for the VW and Porsche.

Thanks Glenn. I was tempted to throw some hub caps on the '67 for a joke - the ultimate sleeper, a la Steve Beecher - but then I realized that it would scratch my freshly painted hub cap retainer clips, so nadda.
