I was just curious what helmets you guys have. I took my old favorite helmet into work a few weeks back and got laughed at Angry. I even had a kid there say I can't see threw it (Shade 11 no auto darking lens) Grin. I've had it for about 9 years now and its my favorite out of any I've ever tried. It's lite only weighs 1.7#'s. I had to retire it. Some a$$hole decided to bump it off a press that I was working on (16' in the air). I've searching for another like it but no luck. I even got laughed at the welding supply places. I finally found one online went threw 16 pages on google but found a supply house that sells them. -Jacob-

I like your helmet. I have one simular to it and another auto-darkening one (that I use for TIG welding I do, MIG welding body panels or any time I am in an difficult positions like  under a car welding, when flipping the helmet up and down constantly becomes a hassle Tongue). Don't let those guys bother you. They are either buggin you for being cheap, old fashion, or because they wouldn't last a minute without their auto-darkening helmet. Older designed helmets are cheap to buy, and they used to be the norm. You can even rivet the old leather material from your welding jacket (if you have one) to the bottom of your helmet to protect against burns on your neck and throat (vertical and overhead welding) Upgrade if you can later, but remember this-When that $90+ helmet with automatic lens falls 16' , you'll more than likely have two helmets that automatically don't work!-Andy-

I use to only use Huntsman helmets 951p I believe, but bought a cheap one made by Hobart this time I think.

I can't use a big ol' hood like that one, lots of sticking my head in tight places, laying down, and sometimes dang near standing on my head so they need to be small and light.

I use a Selllstrom auto darkening one.  It's not bad.  I don't do much welding, but the auto darkening sure makes life easy.

I like the way you think Marty.

It is the nicest helmet I have ever used or seen.
I finally broke down and bought one a few months ago and I am kicking myself for waiting so long to do it.
Indiana Oxygen has a E-Bay store and sells them for $100 cheaper than any of my welding supply stores can sell me one for.
Best "tool" I own!

I have a basic Lincoln one with the large gold-plated #10 lense, although I need to replace it because the helmet is starting to crack...been dropped/banged around a few times over the years.  I also have one with a large lense that I have set up on rods and a magnetic base.  I do a lot of TIG welding on small tanks and components at work, and find this really saves my neck over flipping the helmet down a lot i.e. fewer visits to my chiropractor to straighten me out.
