My son will be starting there in the fall and I need to change my whole thought process.  My neice is a UCLA grad so the Bruins have been my team...along with the UCI Anteaters, but lets be honest, an Anteater?   Bruins all the way...sorry Jimmy G  Wink

We are very happy that he decided to go to Tech, don't get me wrong, but...what is a Hokie?  I am almost afraid to ask.
Maybe some of my southern friends can fill me in.   Do Hokies play banjos?  Do they have gun racks in their big trucks with big tires or is it something else?

Whatever a Hokie is I guess I will find out this weekend at big "Hokie Focus Day", we were invited to.   The invite said, "No one will be admitted without an invitation or a Confederate flag."  Wink

Wish me luck  Smiley

Dunebuggy Dale's son Kirk graduated from VT.  He said it was a really good school to attend.

Good Luck!

My nephew is starting Un. of MD in the fall and my daughter is a sophomore in high school.  She has her sights set on Un. of MD also.

You must be very proud, Jerry, Univ of Md is a good school.   My next biggest challenge is keeping our daughter, 13, on the right path.  I know how difficult I was at 13.  Sounds like you handled that challenge quite well with your daughter.   Congrats!

We were very impressed with our visit to V Tech this weekend.  We did not find out what a Hokie was so thank you J Dotson for that link posted.  Great background info.

Ben will be joining the Corps of Cadets as a Marine option.  He will be up at 5:30am for PT (physical training), uniform inspection and then breakfast. They even inspect their rooms.  After this they begin their normal school day.   I am thrilled!   He is really looking forward to being a Hokie  Smiley
