How 'bout it?  I still have my electric 1/10 scale cars, and have vowed to go 'gas' next time.  I still have a 'gold pan' RC10 (which I might sell off), a Tamiya TA02 touring car, and an HPI MT stadium truck.

The race season for RC cars is starting soon, too!

...1/8 scale gas. Smiley
Which model?  Buggy, monster truck?  I've been leaning towards the Nitro MT2, or its big brother the Savage .25

I was really big into this for a while, here is my advise, for one being a gear head the gas is awsome, but a PITA to maintain. If your going onroad, go gas, if off road go eletric.... I had a buddy we raced for a long time, I had a gas truck he had eletric, every weekend he would get done throw it into the box and wait until the next weekend, how ever I had to clean and rebuild and all kinds of maintence on mine, after a couple weeks I got eletric and never looked back...

I raced onroad electrics for a couple seasons, really liked it.  I just couldn't keep up with parts.  The only thing I hate about my electrics is runtime and chargers.  I used to run 4 packs at a time, one in the car/truck running, three charged.  Once the pack in the car was done, next in, the one just out on the charger to drain and charge, and so on.  Talk about cooking some motors!  I'll have to dust off the MT this weekend...

I used to be all into the RC thing but it got to pricey for me.  I have a RC10GT that I have about 1500 into that I wouldn't mind letting go but don't know if I can part with it for under $500.  But it comes with radio and all.

Yikes, got every Team part Associated makes?  Didja race or just enjoy it?  That was why I sort of slipped out of it myself.  I was pouring dinero into the cars and knowing I'd never get it back out.

Im an RC gearhead, i actually worked for Hobbypeople Years agao when it was called HobbyShack. I used to race offroad stadium trucks at a track that was in SantaFe Springs back in the days called "The Race Place" Then i raced onroad 1/10 scale nitro sedans... Wasnt very good at it so i gave that up, i still have alot of cars and stuff at home including my RC helicopter. I also had a few RC Nitro HydroBoats.
I started building insanely fast 1/10th Scale sedans with .21 engines in them and raced them at the RC Car street races in LongBeach. YES RC street racing was and probably still is around, its just like actual street racing, but with RC cars, we all park in the driveways of the buisnesses there and race our RC cars on the street, this one cunstruction worker would be there with his truck towing those caltrans lights and lights up the street because like street racing we were doing it at night, they would go on untill like 2am. I got to see some crazy cars there racing, and some crazy people racing for $$$$, I once saw a race that was between 2 1/8thscale onroad Serpant cars, they bet $1200 on that race!
I was really good at drag racing those things, and still am. I used to rebuild my own engines and port my own piston Sleaves.

That's crazy... if there's two people around, it'll only be a matter of time before someone starts betting!

i have a couple of cars like the tamiya '67 beetle that i painted to look just like my car in my avatar. i even got 5 spoke black empi's on it. first time out i rolled it put a small scratch and crack in the body and never ran it again. too much time and work and plus i use it in my car show display under the hood. i also own a hpi rs4 i think haven't looked at it in awhile. that has a mustang saleen body painted to look like their cars from home improvement. but i am also into gas or nitro boats. i have a real old aeromarine laminates challenger hull. it's about 43" long and has a custom paint job to look like a real Hustler powerboat. that has a .065 O.P.S. nitro engine but it needs to be replaced. just not sure if i want to replace it with the same nitro or a real good weedwacker engine. those are alot cheaper to run. one gallon of gas and 2 stroke oil or one gallon of nitro. nowadays i am not sure what is cheaper with the price of gas and oil. here is the website for the boats they are real cool and i think way more fun then the cars. also a lot more to buy but a lot less on parts that the cars always seem to break when you wreck.

I went thru the whole thing... planes, helis, electric and nitro cars/buggies. Actually I run the local hobby shop, so for the first 5-8 years, I was pimping all sorts and sizes of RC planes, cool 2 stroke,4 stroke multi cyl engines etc, then a bunch of loaded 30, 60 size helis, flying all the time.. then got into RC car racing since our shop sponsored the races. So I got RC-10GT's, Turbo burns, T-maxx, Kyosho MP-5, MP-6, Kanai 7.5.  Now, I cooled my jets and sold off most of my RC's and spent all that dough (+ alot more..) on the VW turbo efi stuff. I plan to get back into the RC thing later in my years.  Roll Eyes

BTW, don't put RC nitro fuel in your full scale car... a couple of my customers did it, ( "oh yeah! NITRO.. NAWS bro" Roll Eyes ) and regreted it. One had to flush out his fuel sys.. and the other had gummed up fuel lines.. watching too much of the fast n furious crap.  Cheesy

My RC car habits comes in waves.  Into them for a year, then out of them for a year.  I guess it just depends if I have time and money to spend it.  I've had a few of them over the years,  Here's a list of some of them: Grasshopper, Frog, Blackfoot, RC 12 (E, I, L) RC 10L, RC10 (3 gold pans), Losi JRX2, T-Maxx, Hyper 7, Kyosho 4wd GP-10?, Optima (chan drive 4wd!).  I still remember those resistor speed controls on those old TA cars and those on the tamiya cars.  Would burn my finger everythime I picked up that frog!  Now I play with my 1/8 gas buggy:)  Nitro  cars are a blast Grin  So much power and the batteries never die!  Sometimes I drive them for 1 hour at a time (fill up while engine is running Smiley) but it can get boring driving that long!  I had to stop because every weekend was costing $100 plus just to play.  Those 1/8 buggys are fast, but they break parts constantly.  It's almost a given something will break or come loose.  Red locktite, super CA or what ever to keep those screws tight Angry

i used to be into RC.  never raced, just bashed around the yard, parks, schools and empty parking lots.  its all i did back in high school.  needed something to fill the gab between slot cars and VW's.  at one point a few years ago i had a total of 7 cars (RC10T3, Losi XXXT, tamiya mini cooper (MO3 chassis), bolink eliminator, HPI nitro RS4 2, and a couple of crappy kyosho's (one nitro, one electric).  im down to 5 after destroying the T3 (im never buying another associated), and using one of the kyosho's for a parts car.  im thinking of selling the HPI sense i don't use it and i don't like nitro. i haven't messed with an RC car sense at least october.  they get boring real quick.  i don't have much money right now, plus i just hate the state of the hobby these days.  its geared tord noobs, the market if flooded with cheep poorly built and assembled RTR's (i HATE RTR's!!!!!) and everything's nitro (i don't like nitro).  its just not fun for me anymore.  hopefully with brushless becoming more and more popular electric will pick back up.  idk, finances willing i may play around with it a bit sometime in the near future.
