Very cool (never heard of it).

No affiliation with the sale

"It's a Porsche-based, aluminum-bodied one-off loaded with rare pre-A goodies. Period-built to participate in the '55 Carrera Panamericana, the Spyder was stored in Echo Park, Calif. garage from 1975-2010. We have sympathetically refurbished it without destroying its irreplaceable patina. Engine compartment shows lightweight construction of tubular structure and aluminum panels. Engine is a 1600cc "Super 90" unit that was probably installed after the 1500cc roller cam engine expired."
