That is the Skinne Beetle from Norway. Here is a 9.26 @ 153 run, on drag radials and driven to and from the track 100 miles each way. Shocked

Stealth67vw is right and the movie is from our Scandinavian Cal Look Classic event last year. The driver managed the 9.6 run with low turbo pressure and with Yokohama low profile tires lifting the pedal after 300m due to traction issues. He took the car out again the weekend after with drag radials, a chute and a full cage and managed a 9.26 - 153 also lifting the the pedal before the finishline and still with more pressure available.

The 'nige ua sechs !!!' (wild guess: 9.26) from the commetator stays in my head since then :-) I probably have spelled it way wrong, but what would you expect haha!

In the first video you can see that the 'street' tires must have been at a really low pressure as with the burning-out scene, you even see the street tires grow a little bigger  Shocked

The first thing the commentator say is that the beetle is very easy to drive until a certain point. And you`re right, he says "ni = nine / tjue = twenty / seks = six / ni tjue seks = 9.26. The street tires in the first movie are R rated Yokohamas soft compound. They are certainly not the best choice for drag race but that was all he had. As you can see he takes the 1/8 light beams with him in the first run.

I believe we will see a 8 second run from this car the day he increase the pressure, gets off with a good start and is able to keep the pedal to the metal all the way.

He is not staging with his back tires. I`m standing 3 meters away from him in the first movie (orange crew shirt) and know that he staged correctly.

Good ear! It runs indeed a 5-speed G50 porsche transmission.
Not one of the most fast shifting tranny's, but he quite manages ;-)

Nope, they have been very busy since last year. But I know they started working on the car again a couple of weeks ago, maybe they'll do some testing soon. Not sure about their 60-fot times, but they ran a 6.07 half way on their 9.26 run.

Here's a 9.03 run at the same event (which I saw in person - whoohoo!), along with some related pics from Thomas Sandberg and Olaf Albers:

OMG!

That is nothing less than awesome! Is that time run with the same 'tune' that allows him to drive it on the street?

Incredible either way!
