changed the topic heading seeing as it's past the "new project" and into a money pit...and lovin' it!!!

here some snap shots of what I started with, used to have a drag steel body and misc. crap that was not to be used.

...she's rough...but the stance is sick!!...I started all the roll steel stock and tubing extra's today...making the front tubes and body filler caps tomorrow...finished the rear package tray and shelf areas..updates tomorrow for now this is what I started with...after removing the old full race '65 steel bdy and replacing it with a real nice solid donor for the street set-up...I also relocated the trans 2" back to center the rear wheels...the race car chassis had them out toward the rear more...

'Stroke,,the new 10" pro-stars are coming soon with the 11" hoosiers...the rears I "stole" from my buddys s10 and he ain't to happy...

let's see..today got the whole body braced in,shifter column in,rear package area, front bracing,Rhino-lined,front down tubes from the chassi to the beam..etc...I'll snap some picks...she'll be in her first coat of primer hopefully by sun...

rear to narrow? no?

Tim

Thats the ticket!!!

On some cars it bugs me when they have a 5" or so narrowed axle, and then a fat fender, and you cant even see the tire back there from a front/side view. I like to to be somewhat close to the (stock width) fender.

we're definitly on the same page! Grin...not too close to the fender but filling the well is key...still running a 26" tire and most likely an 11" wide with a 10" rim...hell knows she has plenty of room...I'm going to the shop this morning and doing some last minute stuff and bouncing between a customers car and mine...she should be in primer tonight...

then the money saving/for parts happens!!!

Haha thats my old car!  We sold it right after Christmas...I was totally bummed...but that's life.  Looks like you are doing it pretty much the same way that I wanted too.  I have a 55 body and a split clip, that I wanted to put together to build the ultimate pro streeter.  That Dream went down the toilet.  Good luck with the project!  Looks awesome!

got some monor paint work done today...still figuring if I wanna send it out for the tin work or try it myself... either way:

here's the rear of the 15x10's with a 3.5" b/s...M/T drag radials in a 275/50/15 is gonna get sqeezed in there..the height should work...rolling chassis sits a little squatted to simulate on the gas ride height...+/- of course...

now just gotta get rid of the 'ol '59 to finance the REAL parts of the car... Grin

Looking good!  Can't wait to see it done, I thought that the beam in it was already a 4 inch narrowed unit.  Or did it get swiped?  Keep up the good work!

here's a couple of updated tin pics...it's going to be part of the car so it'll be smoothed in and carpeted etc...

filled and seam sealed with a small hatch to service the trans, linkage etc...

the fender will be removable, with an 18 ga. strip attatched...rather flat than angled I gained about 2" of clearance as well as rolling the stock steel wells...

fenders mounted, plenty of clearance even when in "squat" config...sorry bout the dust, she's at home instead of the shop so I can actually enjoy playing around with 'er...
