Remember the Days.. When V-Dubs were King and used as daily transportation.

How precious is this original video form the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival for those that remember it truly was the good ole days. And for those that were too young you have no idea how simple life use to be!

Or This one written by John Phillips for his soon to be wife Michelle while they were stuck in NY on a cold snowy gray winters day, she was longing for sunny warm La and back home in So-Cal.

That's pretty darn cool seeing what life was like years ago in So-Cal. Hey I think I may have seen my parents (to be) somewhere in that video? I wonder what it was like to actually own and drive a VW back in the Hippy generation, I bet that bugs were all over the place? I liked the painted Bus it cracked me up, looks like they couldn’t decide on what color to paint it? I only wish it was a VW.

I'm just grateful I can still live the dream and drive an air-cooled VW daily...if I lived in a busy metro area like SoCal I likely wouldn't do so, but some would say I'm equally brave doing so in rural Central-Eastern Oregon! Grin

Thanks for the good memories, Jon!  California Dreamin' takes me back every time I hear it...I was in Viet Nam at the time and a guy in my platoon had a portable record player.   Whenever we got back off a mission, he'd break it out and the Mamas & Papas, Jefferson Airplane, Jimmi Hendrix, the Beatles got the spin plenty of times.  I feel fortunate to have spent my 60 years in SoCal and lived the dream.  On a side note, anyone catch Denny Doherty's passing last week...leaves Michelle Phillips as the last survivor of the Mamas & Papas.

Yea… Sorry to hear about the lost of Denny. As for Michelle she was so hot, I can’t imagine how many I have rubbed out over her in the 70's.

California Dreamin. And with most of the Country in the grips of winter with snow on the ground this song really hits home and touches our hearts as for most of us we have two loves. So-Cal and V-Dubs.

The quality of the attached video isn’t very clear but it makes you So-Cal dues appreciate the good weather you have and some of the nasty weather that the other 95% of the country has to deal with. Yea California Dreamin on a cold withers day is the only way some of us can get through this white stuff.  You lucky Bastards you…

“Sarge”  Thanks for helping to fight the fight and defend our freedom, little did you know at the time that you were fighting the war in Vietnam and Saigon that So-Cal would become home to Little Saigon and so many beautiful Asian chic’s with tinny hinnies..   Shocked

Here are the words to California Dreamin

All the leaves are brown
And the sky is grey
I've been for a walk
On a winter's day
I'd be safe and warm
If I was in L.A.
California dreamin'
On such a winter's day

Stopped into a church
I passed along the way
Well I got down on my knees
And I pretend to pray
You know the preacher likes the cold
He knows I'm gonna stay
California dreamin'
On such a winter's day

All the leaves are brown
And the sky is grey
I've been for a walk
On a winter's day
If I didn't tell her
I could leave today
California dreamin'
On such a winter's day
On such a winter's day
On such a winter's day
